oh just ignore them. they could be bored and didn't really see you cos they had to blank out life to get through the day. it's their inside stuff and not you. don't let them take the smile of your face just smile at everyone and say hi not expecting anything back and something lovely will happen to you..guaranteed. what you put out does come back but not always from the same direction. well done you for having a smile and being the nicest person at work.

Unless I am in a bad mood, I smile at everyone all the time, whether they smile back or not, and even if I just saw them five minutes before. Whenever I pass someone, I always make sure to make eye contact and smile. Happiness is contagious!

Do you know that person? He/she may be having some problems, next time ask if there is something wrong, if the answer is 'no why?' then tell them you smile at them and they did not acknowledge you, this would hopefully makes them feel bad and may apologise or smile next time you meet. If not just ignore this person and get on with your life, we don't need them do we?

Depends how far away from them you are. The person could have poor eyesight. I think most people would smile back. Get closer and if you smile and they don't smile back they have a problem with manners or they aren't used to people being nice.
Never stop smiling it makes peoples day

I'll usually speak a few times, and then I'll keep it moving. I have a friend who speaks to people who she suspects will not return her pleasantries. She then becomes consumed with hurt feeling at the fact that they did not respond. Then the next time she makes a point of not speaking and then feels bad. I say do what makes you comfortable. Another friend of mine told me "No one has to be your friend if they don't want too." I laughed because the concept is true. At work it best to be professional and cordial but you're not going to be chummy with everyone. So don't sweat the small stuff.

Your job is going to be on the chopping block. Start looking for another job. Don't let the sad people in the world take away your smile. Just be yourself and smile ;)

People are just rude. I hate that or when someone needs help with something and no one offers to help those people are terrible. But there's not much we can do but help those people or when someone smiles at us smile back.

He might not have even been looking at you.
He might not have been in the mood to smile.
Perhaps you aren't supposed to be smiling and interacting with people at your place of employment (no one else did)?
Keep smiling and stop being so sensitive.
