First of all I have to correct your question for you made the mistake of making the statement "fast food" restaurant. These are now a thing of the past an American historical site, lost in the nineties. Because of the staffing problems at the typical convenient restaurant (my new name for them) they have trouble in the following areas:
Understanding your order (English is not the main language)
Understanding how to place your order
Understanding how to charge for your order
Understanding how to make change (if necessary)
Understanding their own menu
As you can see this problem is not going to get any better only worse so be prepared for long waits at your local "convenient" restaurant and god forbid you should "super size" or order a special topping on your burger then put in for another 5 to 10 minutes.

45 minutes. for a slice of pizza. and I was standing there right in front of them, on the other side of the counter.

20 minutes, Mc'd's, waiting for nuggets. They threw in some free pies. I hate pies :(

in paris, they like to take their time b/c they think u wanna lounge around fora couple hours
as an american,i got hungry but i'd say 45 minutes
at least they gave us bread

90 minutes - we almost walked out, it shouldn't have taken that long because there was almost no one there and our orders were simple things.
