Ok, this is what u need to do,
Most of the camcorders do not have the facility for USB streaming. You need firewire cable. Firewire is the most popular, reliable and faster way to transfer large video files to the computer.

You need to check if you have these:
1. A firewire port in your computer (costs £10 approx)
2. A Firewire cable (usually not supplied with camcorder, costs £5 approx).
3. A video editing software (best for starters : Pinnacle Studio DV costs about £50 including the firewire port).
4. Oh also, a DVD burner.

I always use Pinnacle Studio DV software. It is really really easy but there are many others available too (more expensive ones for professional use).

With pinnacle studio DV, you can Add sound effects, title, remove the original soundtrack, add special effects, movie transition effects and many many more.

So once you are ready and have all the above requirements, just connect one end of the firewire cable to you camcorder and other to the computer, open the pinnacle studio DV (or windows movie maker which is supplied with Windows XP to download video - it doesn't give u much facility though), once the video is downloaded, just edit the video if you want, or just burn directly to DVD using Pinnacle studio DV software. You don't even need to use your DVD recording software.

I hope this helps. If you are stuck, leave your question on a feedback link of my website http://www.sentosajaipur.com and I will answer it ASAP. Oh also you need to leave your email address so that i can reply to you.

The Canon ES8100V 8mm camcorder is an analog camcorder - the relationship you pick is an "analog/digital converter". it truly is better than only a cable. top (Dazzle), Roxio and so on make those designed to connect including your pc utilising a USB cable. Canopus makes quite a few that connect utilising firewire. Use the AV cables (actual, with this camcorder, S-video and the audio area of the AV cable) that got here with the camcorder to connect to the the A/D converter. connect with the converter to the pc.
