You must have checked your case status check online to get that message. The online updates do not provide you with information as to what time of documents are required. The I-1800 number for USCIS won't have that information either as it's case specific and the customer service reps only have basic information.

If your application is employment based - USCIS may be requesting tax returns from your employer, evidence that you have remained in legal status in the country, copies of your pay stubs, articles of incorporation - the list goes on etc.

If your application is family based - USCIS may be requested tax returns for the petitioner, birth certificates, proof of citizenship and immigration status, passport sized photos - the list goes on etc.

It's no point worrying about the RFE (Request for Additional Evidence) until you receive it because they can ask for most anything (as noted above). If you haven't received it in 30-days, contact the USCIS customer service line for assistance.

Once you receive the RFE, respond to it accordingly and submit it to USCIS with proof of postage.

If you have additional questions, do not hesitate to ask.
