First off, overpopulation is not a problem; birth rates all over the world have been declining since the 1960s. Second, if a man were neutered, that would mean he was castrated. I think what you're after is sterilization.

Most important, who gets to decide who has to be neutered? We might face a nightmare similar to Nazi Germany, except the target groups would be sterilized instead of killed.

Yes, excellent idea. Start with you.
My ex- had a vasectomy and 9 years later, I had his son. His tubes had grown back! He was able to have sex without any problem.
I had my tubes tied, and the doctor told me the only way to know if it worked is to see if I got pregnant. I didn't. I was able to have sex with out problems.
The birth rate in developed countries is dropping, and will be a problem, too, when we don't have the workers or tax-base to support the rest of society.
And the birth-rate in poorer countries is increasing, so they will starve faster, and have more diseases, more people to die in disasters.
Generally,as societies get more stable and more educated, the birth-rate declines, partly because the 1 or 2 children they do have survives to reproduce. Poorer countries have to have more to ensure the survival of 1 or 2 to adulthood.
It is a very scary idea to neuter people by some government, since someone other than the individual would be decidiing who got neutered.
I don't want to give up my individual rights to pro-create, do you?

actually a lot of people do get permanent 'birth control' when we are finshed having kids. We did. My husband got a vasectomy., I was going to get a tubal but due to complications they did not end up doing it, so my husband got fixed. I think it is a great thing to do if you do not want to have more children. But it is definantley a very personal choice and should be left that way. Where as pets, All mine are fixed because as long as thousands are put to sleep every day across this country, I will not add to the problem.

Lol I used to think about this when I was younger. dogs/cats are more alike then you think. Both in shelter, or foster homes. Some go to bad homes, and are abused. There's so many in tthe shelters and foster homes. Humans just wouldn't agree to it because we're more dominant, and yet when we go into other animals land, and they start coming in your backyard, everyone's like WE GOTTA KILL THEM NOW! THEY'RE MESSING UP OUR LAND! It's like dude..look what you did to THEIR land. I predict that eventually the only animals that'll be left in a few hundred years are the ones we keep as pets, and the ones we eat. Then people try to clone these animals...but I mean I personally wouldn't agree to myself being spayed becaused I want kids..but you know..it's just sad when we take other animals property.

I don't think Jean knows what nueter means. My cats are neutered and they all have their penis's still. In fact, it is the same as men getting fixed, they are still able to have sex.

Because humans have the right to get their tubes tied or not. Besides we had my boxer spayed because the vet told us she has a better chance of living longer.

I think if you can't afford to have children, you shouldn't have them. If you decide to have them anyway (or don't take precautions to prevent them) and you want to get government assistance (like welfare), then you should have to have your tubes tied or get a vasectomy in order to get that government assistance. I think clinics should provide free procedures to those who need them.

do you even know what it means, if you are neuter, not only you won't be able to have kids, you have to sit on the toilet like a girl when you have to use the bathroom.

have sex would be out of the quest
