The law calls for heavy fines on employers who hire illegals and on landlords who rent to illegals. The town was overrun with illegals starting three years ago, and after seeing their jobs disappear and their crime rates go up, the townspeople decided not to wait for our worthless national government to handle the problem of illegal immigration, and took matters into their own hands. Maybe that's the only way to start solving this problem. People have to try to do things locally instead of waiting for the federal government to solve their problems.

I'm against all the prejudice that is associated with this topic, but I do commend the people of this Pennsylvania town for their no nonsense, no excuses approach to this problem. Illegal immigrants are not coming to this country because of our weather, they are coming for jobs. If there are no jobs (and no places to stay) they will not remain. Basically, you can not complain about the relative that has overstayed their welcome, you complain about the person who told them, "Sure, hang out for a while."

I am from PA, and I am personally thrilled that FINALLY, something is getting done about the immigration problem. Huge fines should be imposed on these employers and landlords, because they are obviously aware of the the fact that their potential tenants are illegal (i.e., not having a DRIVERS LISCENSE to apply for credit check and references for an apt., let alone to get a job). I live close to the area, and I've seen it gone to ****, just like my hometown, Lebanon, PA. You want to talk about a traditional CONSERVATIVE town turned to dirt because the mayor says OK to 20-30 immigrants living in a 2 bedroom house? You can tell exactly when you're entering the slums, or the ghetto, when you see trash is laying allover the sidewalks and clogging the gutters. You don't see that in the nice areas of town. I also don't see a "native" family have their child sitting on the dirty sidewalk in a filthy diaper with dirt all over their face and their stomach, but you sure see a lot of that where the immigrants are living. They like to walk around Wal-Mart like that too. I applaud the town for doing it, more towns, like my hometown, should follow suit. The streets need to be cleaned up, because my family basically works to keep the immigrants going, because they are too lazy......wait, I mean, most of them can't even get a job legally. Most people who are in support of immigration don't realize that the immigrants are the people who give themselves bad names. They come in, and there is a crime rate increase, and the area they live in goes to ****. And, I must say, how dare you come to AMERICA and ask me if I speak Spanish. The statement, rather, shoud be speak English, or get the F OUT!

I think it is ridiculous.....By the way, do you live there? No you don't, so how can you assume that mayor is even telling the truth and not some racists moron taking the law into his own hands?

I live on the border and crime rates have always been low here, wow, I am surrounded by illegals, go figure!? They don't bother anyone, they can only be accused of doing the jobs we won't do...

If the govt told me who I can or can't rent to, whats next? Will they tell me I can't drive a red car with purple poka dots? I should have the right to rent to anyone, as long as I don't discriminate against them for their color, race or religion....

Those who seek safety for freedom, deserve neither safety nor freedom....

precisely! The Arizona regulation is only a mirrored image of federal regulation already on the books. Obama stated in a speech the different day the he does no longer understand why Arizona may bypass a regulation they have "no probability of implementing." properly DUH! in case your administration became no longer so corrupt and may implement the regulation, Arizona doesn't ought to! the point is that each and each and every unmarried unlawful immigrant in this usa today can be a criminal and this administration alongside with the liberal majority needs to furnish them a free journey. it is why you listen empty threats to sue the state from Obama and Holder and why they're making one of those enormous deal out of Arizona workout habitual their state's rights. AZ is eliminating a wide area of Obama's illegally registered voter block! lol i'd be very a great deal surprised if a lawsuit went everywhere, yet regardless of this the libtards are in skill! replace: a lot for empty threats. The Obama administration filed healthful adverse to AZ today over the unlawful immigration regulation.

Yes, I live in PA and I agree with it. I live 20 minutes away from Hazleton and I wish that they would do that in the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton area. I do not have a problem with immigrants coming here but there is a right way and a wrong way to do so. In my neighborhood we have a three bedroom house that must house 45 mexican immigrants not all of them have green cards. There should be a law to prohibit that.

Now compare that city to Maywood, CA which did away with their police force so no illegal would be caught without a license or insurance.

Which city sponsors law and order? Which city is representative of the uniform laws that Congress must act before their is violence in the street?

I did hear about this town, and I applaud them. It's not about racism, it's about the town elders, who have been elected, and who have been sworn to uphold the laws of thier city, state, and the US. It's about time some politicians keep thier oaths. I think if a politician violates his oath of office he should be removed. If it the violation includes anything that is against laws, he should be charged as a criminal. I'm not against immigration at all. But do it legally.

What I dont get, is most of the political answers that I have seen on Yahoo! answers seem to be more conservative. Yet, the media portrays america as this liberal, left. Are we missing something here? Why don't the left media just buzz off and stop reporting as if every American is against America?
