The leap frog learning playground is possibly the best gift on the planet! I swear by this thing, when my daughter turned one we bought it for her, she turns 2 on september 13th and she still loves it! She also loves her Todays Kids rocking/bouncy horse. This thing is a godsend!
Also something to try and get her wanting to walk is the barbie piano mat! This toy is meant for older kids but I think it is amazing for prewalking babies. My daughter dances as she plays on it.

Since she is close to walking she would probably love both a push toy and a pull toy. My son, who is now 16 months, LOVES the radio-flyer push wagon. It's great because it provides a little bit of resistance so they don't go flying forward when they push on it. It is a great toy that helped him build confidence to walk. It's a little pricey but worth it because they can use it as a little wagon even after they learn to walk. They have it at www.kbtoys.com for $59.
If you are looking for something more simple, a pull toy is also great for this age. Once she does start to walk she'll love pulling it all around the house. You could get a classic wooden one that you can save as a keepsake for when she's all grown up. My son has a simple plastic caterpillar one that he loves.
A final idea would be to get her a tricycle. My son has the Kettler Kettrike (www.onestepahead.com) and it has a long handle for the parents to push with until your child is old enough to ride one all by herself. Again, it's pricey (around $130) but worth it because you can use it now as a pseudo-stroller and later she can ride alone. They have less expensive tricycles with the push handle at the toy store so you could check that out too.
Happy Birthday to your little girl and good luck!!!

Why not get her something memorable that maybe she can pass on to her children one day if she wants to. I got my daughter a very nice porcelain tea set. I know she doesn't know what it is or understand it yet but in no time at all we will be having tea parties and making memories. Of course, get her something she can play with now. My daughter loves Leapfrog Learn Around Table.

Get her something that she can keep forever. Try finding a small wooden rocking chair and paint it all up pretty with her name on it then she can have her very own rocking chair that she can keep forever and she will love. Just an idea :)

Any of those push toys, they'll help her walk and she'll have fun running around the room with them.
