helmet, chest plates, sometimes chain mail, gauntlets, leather shoes and a tunic to go underneath everything.

helmet - for obvious reasons
chest plates - in theory to fend off slicing or stabbing swords or knives fro mgoign into the body
chain mail - used primarily to stop arrows since they were constructed from tightly woven rings. this in conjunction with the chest plates offered fairly good protection from most small arms strikes
gauntlets - or braces on the hands and shins used to further protect from blunt force trauma or sword/knife strikes. shin guards helped protect them from lower body attacks and rocks, as they were sometimes used in combat.
leather shoes - no steel toe back then so leather was the primary material used in the shoe making field. versatile but like any other leather, worn down over time
tunic - was simply a dress of sorts that went underneath all the gear to provide so, if little, comfort to them. consider it the wife beater t shirt back in the day
