Well it depends, the obvious answer is of course 6 however if on the third strike of an at bat the catcher drops the ball and the runner reaches base the pitcher gets credit for a strike out (which is an out) however the out isn't counted towards that team's 3 outs per 1/2 inning total. I guess with that logic there could be an infinite number of "outs" if that scenario happened a lot but usually the answer is 6 (3 per team per inning)

It could be 3 (If the home team is ahead after the top of the 9th)
It could be 4 or 5 (if the home team scores the winning run in the bottom of the ninth.)
It could be 6 (In innings 1-8, or the home team loses.)
