Would it be wrong to to have something else other than hymns in church. How about Master of puppets by metallica, or Eye in the Sky by alan parsons...some floyd too.....

When I was a pre-teen, the Chaplain at our school was saying that, if the young crowd like disco (I know, I'm old!) bring disco at the church.

He didn't do it per say, but he let us sing some 'cooler" songs.

I think that songs are a strenght in church ("Singing is praying twice") because its comes from the gut instead of the head.

Any songs that celebrate the same values as the one Jesus wanted to promote should be acceptable in church, even if doesn't mention Jesus or a Saint in it.

Maybe some more modern music than hymns but I am not thinking your selections are going to work. Try going to the Christian Supply Store and checking out the rock section. There are some good cds in there.

you can have other things than hymns. Just make sure that they are appropriate for the church. Steven Curtis Chapman is not a problem. Floyd is probably a little too secular.

There are other songs in church, but the point is to glorify the Lord and worship Him. While I also like Floyd & both songs you mentioned, how do they glorify Jesus? There are rock songs that do - listedn to TFK, Skillet, Disciple, Demon Hunter, Pillar, Toby Mac, Kutless, Switchfoor, Superchick, etc. They all rock & all have songs glorifying God and the Christian walk. And are all used at our church's youth group services. So nothing wrong w/rock in church - just needs to be worshipping and glorifying.

Where do you go to church? We are jamming with some pretty severe rock anthems. Granted, the lyrics praise God instead of the devil, but there is some good stuff out there. Check out Lincoln Brewster.

Uhh...why would you do that? You can have things other than hymns...like modern praise and worship. Why degrade the house of God?

In my opinion church shouldnt have any music at all. Its a place to worship we should just listen to the lecture and pray quietly.

Any song in church is okay so long as it glorifies God and creates worship of the true God. Those you mentioned do not.
