Please help me. Going to have dinner with an old italian professor. I dont want to choose an italian restaurant here in Houston as I heard there are some sub-par ones.

They really just enjoy good food that's made with love. That's what it's all about. Ask him what he likes and let him choose.

We work with people form all over the world and I find that most Europeans are very flexible in thier food selection, especially Italians. Italians eat much more variety than what we call Italian here. If this is his first trip, I would bring him somewhere that is distinctively american.

BBQ, southwest or a good sea food place.

It all depends on the person but my husband is Italian and he loves French food or even a good steak house is something everyone enjoys. Have fun! :)
