if you're confrontational then that approach may work. I'm not, so for me it means "don't JUST take no for an answer". Make the client give you reasons.

As you know the key is to make sure the potential client has the need and finances for your service. If they don't make a quick but polite exit. If the there is a potential client be aggressive but not overbearing and make sure you articulate how you can help them succeed. If you do this successfully you are on your way to developing a positive relationship. If they continue to say no, do not harass them but follow up at a later date. I have been a consultant for large corporations as well as owning my own small business.

Selling takes more than just the ability to talk well in fornt of people....You have to prequalify your customers....i am not going to offer a million dollar life policy to someone that only makes 28k a year.....I would however offer them a product from my arsenal that they can afford and buy.

"Don't take 'no' for an answer" is really old school sales training and ineffective today.

That prospect that tells you 'no' either does not have enough pain or enough cash either of which you should know ahead of time.

Find a customer who has a need (problem) and fill the need (solve the problem).
