Perhaps something hidden within them realizes the Truth, so it is hard for them to ignore Christians.

Be open-minded people!!!!

Because Christianity is pushed on everyone in this country all the time. Deep down (or maybe not so deep) most hard-line Christians in this country would be overjoyed if the government essentially became a theocracy. If every president had to consult a pastor or priest to see what the bible says before making any decision, if every public school taught ONLY creationism with mandatory prayer every day. Perhaps even if church attendance was requried at least a certain number of times a month.

The reason it bugs me is that many, not most but many, people are condescending and self righteous in their professions of faith. It generally goes something like this. "I love Jesus and if you disagree you are going to Hell". Obviously, I'm paraphrasing, some are more or less eloquent in their condemnations. I respect Christianity and people trying to show me the way. What I don't respect is when people don't relent. Present your arguements and move on. Don't expect me to fall to my knees and praise Jesus because you say I should. If I am going to find God and Jesus it will be in my own time and my own way. I don't believe I'm going to Hell for my beliefs. I think we should all get along. Let's be friends. Let's all keep open minds about each others faiths and religions.

Don't you think it's really clear? They are happy where they are and for a christian to tell them that they're wrong is the peak of arrogance. Some of you Christians were in the same place once. This category is not called "Christianity" and Spirituality. It's hard to ignore someone who may be coming across in an obnoxious way. Human nature wants to "squash the bug." What are you expecting? "Omg, you're right! Gee, how could I have been so blind!" Not going to happen.

They don't get on my nerves. This is just our way of "witnessing". Many believers have never had the opportunity to ask questions regarding their belief. This is my way of helping anyone that wants to learn more, or discover why many others do not believe the way they do. I'm an Atheist, and this message board and the internet would have been nice to have around when I was young.

It all depends on the person. Sometimes they just get on your nerves, but most christians are just like everybody else. It is the crazy ones who think everything is because god did it, or that after every sentance you have to say praise the lord. That just gets anoying. Most real christians keep their faith to themselves unless someone asks and then they can be honest about it.
I try to ignore people who get on my nerves no matter what their religion is.

Generally Christians do not bother me at all. It's those who claim they are following a "loving" God while they are stepping on people they deem as beneath them.

Would you ignore a large man beating up on a little kid? That is exactly how I picture a lot of these Christians who take their religion to the extreme.

I dont let them get on my nerves. I think everyone has a right to their own beliefs. I get Christians asking me to go to church with them & telling me that what they believe is "right' all the time, but I dont tell them they are wrong or that what I believe is correct, I just smile & nod. I believe that nobody will know the answer until they die anyway.

I agree with this question fully. Frankly by arguing with them (by them I mean the fundies, not all Christians) you are giving them what they want, which is your time, energy, and attention. You are basically making their point for them by turning around and lashing out at them. You're not going to get them to change their minds about you or anyone else who doesn't follow their belief system so it's not worth the effort of turning yourself blue in the face, which is all that you will accomplish by getting into it with them.

I was just getting ready to ask the same question. Why do they hang out in the Religion section? Isn't that a non-issue for them?
Yahoo answers needs a atheist section.
