have her wash her hair with dial dish soap. this is an old hair dressers trick that seperates the color from the hair. then go to a cvs and buy a box color one to two shades darker than her natural hair color. apply to all of her hair but only leave on for about 6 mins. because there are highlights in her hair it doesnt have to stay in color as long. dont use a box color that has the word ash anywhere on the box. this will tint her hair green. you want to stick to the dark golden browns and the gonlden browns. after leaving it in for about 6 mins. wash out. while wet determine if the color you used is what you wanted. if not use the dial dish soap and it will come right out. and let your daughter know that it is okay to want to color her hair, but to wait until it can be done the right way.

I had the same results and I got a box of home color (Garnier Nutrisse- great for its conditioners) and picked a shade lighter than my natural color. It blends the highlights and should help the condition of her hair. If your afraid to try a permanent- herbal essence is a really good color too, the only problem is the color may wash out before the highlights grow out, but it would be less harsh on her hair. Good Luck!

Your drugstore or beauty supply store will usually have a toner you can use to tone down the brassiness. Don't use more dye while her hair is brittle, that'll make it worse. Use a good conditioner meant for dry hair to helpl with the brittleness.
In the future, when your daughter colors her hair again, have her use an ash shade, they are usually less brassy for more dark brunettes.

attempting to bleach over it turned right into a foul theory interior the first position. in case your daughter has very darkish hair, bleach will evidently turn it orange. Bleaching your hair at abode is continuously a risky agency and ought to harm her scalp, she must have lengthy gone to a respected salon interior the first position. yet going over it with bleach may be even worse because the hair is already weakened. you should have the capacity to bypass over the hair with an ash blonde colour which will tone down the reds in her hair. you could also placed on a darker brown colour and attempt to artwork it through like she has blonde highlights. yet again, you'll opt to envision with a respected salon which will have the capacity to attempt her hair to be certain even if that is sturdy sufficient to be dyed again. own tale: I used to apply a "solar in" product to lighten my hair. After many years i wanting to be certain what my hair may look like with the unique colour of sunshine brown and went to a salon. thankfully, the more youthful woman took a small slicing of my hair and examined it interior the dye. It grew to develop into right into a glue like substance that only melted throughout her fingers. The solar-in product had damaged it previous fix and that i had to anticipate it to advance out thoroughly before i ought to do some thing else to my hair. so that you want to be careful! besides, once you may want to anticipate it to advance over or no longer some thing else appears operating, my grandmother makes use of a shampoo it is meant to take out brassiness (it leaves her hair white instead of that orange-white that some older people get). possibly that could suffice to make it seem extra organic. good success.

I would condition her hair really well and then dye it back right away. A lot of store brands are actually very conditioning, like Garnier Nutrisse. I have dyed my hair twice in one day (screwed up the first time) using l'Image and I did need to condition it well after but it turned out fine.
Or you could try a semipermanent color over it.

Go ahead. The only thing thats dries out brown hair, is bleaching it. If you go to a salon and dye it back brown, it WILL NOT hurt her hair. It made mine softer and smoother. Coloring doesnt damage hair, but bleaching does.

you don't have to wait to color it back because her hair is dark, which means you are only depositing color not lifting it. so use a color that best matches her natural color. after it colored shampoo it out then buy a good quality conditioner saturate her hair in it then put on a shower on cap for 15 min. then rinse.

At least a couple of weeks. If you put too many chemicals on her hair too close together, it will really dry it out.
Also, make sure she does a few washings to help fade the highlights.

You can colour it immediately. Get a semi or demi permanent deposit only colour that matches her natural base colour and apply it. It will do no further damage because it will only deposit pigment to the pre-lightened portion of her hair.
