because low income + more dependants = tax breaks and government money!

It's a free ride to laziness except for one thing...YOU STILL GOTTA RAISE THE DARN KIDS!

and then america is flooded with white trash raised children that do nothing but destroy everything in sight and have no manners and then grow up to be like their parents and live on welfare and cost the hardworking educated one-child parents to have to pay thousands in taxes every year to support their lazy butts!!

It feels so good to vent!

Coming from a "poor" background, some people, yes, my cousin included, do it for the easy life of no work. They also end up with diabetes and so many other health problems that they can't afford to be healthy and live a happy life. It is a cycle.
Also, if it is a "good" family, sometimes, it is because while they cannot afford other things, they love their children - which was the case for me. My mom was on welfare for *one year* until she got back on her feet. While my parents struggled, they never abused or worked the system.

This is my husband's idea:

" A really modest proposal

How to improve society

My basis is this:
First, bad parents exist. Abusive ones, mean nasty ones. Its a fact.
Second, good parents exist. Nice ones, loving ones who raise up good children. Its a fact.
Third, there exists some difference in quality between good and bad parents.
Fourth, reducing the number of bad parents would increase the proportion of good children.
Fifth, good children have a higher tendency to become good parents.

My proposal is this (given a world where I have control and could propose such a solution):
First, create a completely reversible cheaply-done reliable sterilization procedure.
Second, offer (as a government) a reward to individuals seeking to become sterilized. Lets say $500.
Third, offer the procedure reversing the sterilization at a significantly higher fee. Lets say $2000.
Thats it. Its the solution to many of the worlds problems.

People who just want to get it on and not have kids get a little free money and security.
People who later decide they are ready for the committment to have kids and are able to support them would be able to have the procedure reversed.
People who make rash decisions and want easy money or those unable to save up enough money to have the procedure reversed would not become parents. My assumption (and it is a bold one) is that though some good parents may be lost to sterilization, mostly people who would become bad parents are prevented from conceiving. These people would likely be drug addicts, debt-a-holics and the selfish.

Sound good? Vote for me in the next election for Supreme Dictator."

1. Kids require a great deal of money. Sometimes having kids makes people poor. Most people can't rationally afford children.

2. Education, irresponsible sexually behaviors and other societal factors probably expose the reason for most unplanned pregnancy to poor or otherwise families.

3. Please stop equating all poor people as welfare beneficiaries. There is a such thing called the working poor. Most of them do not qualify for much if any government assistant. Unplanned pregnancy and its relationship to poor families is a little more complicated than trying to get a fast buck from the government.

The true Catholics who are poor, will not use birth control for religious reasons.

Some poor people were not poor when they had the children, but something happened to change their circumstances afterwards.

Many hope that "things can only get better" - and wish to have their children while still young enough to run after and play sports with them.

Babies don't cost a lot of money, the problem being that when they get older the expenses will rise.

They like being on welfare and they have no money to be protected against pregnancy. I think they like watching us hard working people piss and moan at them while they get paid to stay home and have more kids. I hate the system for allowing it. I hate this country for making me help pay for it. Because you know that person that needs help just to get back on there feet after a sudden job-loss or horrible accident, can't even get help without getting raked over the coals. Sorry I had to vent a little you got me going. But thank you and have a good day.

The government gives them more money for each kid they have....plus if they don't work they get even more money..its the easy, lazy way to live..I work at a hospital and it makes me sick to see some B I T C H come in with Gold chains hanging all over her and her kids in Rags! And she is on medicaid. I think that they should make a law saying if you don't have a stable job and a decent income then you can't have kids.

u can have as many kids as u want if u can provide. We're dirt poor, but my mom works 3 jobs 2 provide 4 all of us. We dont have the richest, finest food, but there's always something good to eat. She struggles & works her @$$ off 2 take care of us.
There r people like my mom & then their r others. Those people have gotten n a system. The more babies they have, the more $ they get. Their parents before them did the same thing and they were always taken care of, she y shouldnt they do it? Welfare should b changed to get people on their feet, not take care of them for life. Its funny though how the people who are working hard have to provide and care for the lazy ones who dont

Its not that poor people have alot of kids they just have more than well off people who are to busy buying houses and working and vacationing, these people dont choose to have kids till they are older hence they have less kids,Why do you think people are put on earth, why do a man and woman marry....to see how many cars they can accumulate togather? It is to procreate, that is why we are drawn to have sex,to populate.Money should not be a deciding factor on family size, love should be.My husband and i make $22,000 a year, its not alot of money but we find a way, sure we get medical assistance but everyone deserves to have health coverage, thats why we suck compared to other countries. We raise our kids with morals and they are well taken care of and taught to live their lives with respect for themselves and others. You should not judge people based on income, everyone deserves happiness that children bring and i will tell you right now noone "likes" being poor thats just rediculous.

People have more than two kids per couple when they are too stupid or too selfish to realize that the world can't handle more people. 40,000 children starve to death everyday, our seas are dying from our waste, arable land is disappearing at 2% per year, finite resources (like oil) will soon run out and people have the stupidity to say the world has room for more people. This applies to rich, poor and everyone in between.

because so many of the poor continue to have kids because they can get everything handed to them such as welfare ,food stamps ,heat assistance and sometimes they get their rent and utilities cut down to almost nothing because everything now days is based on your income and how many people are in the household now someone like my family whos husband is self employed brick mason ,he runs a company , and im a state child care provider we cant get even a food stamp in the winter when his work cant be done because of cold weather so i still say its all because they get more help the more kids they have
