It keeps the masses happy. Why is the Greek religion called mythology? Not many practice it. In democracy, politically correct means call it what the voters want. Same with the media. They would loose viewers if the called religion mythology (it is mythology).

The theory of creation, although far fetched is based on scripture found in the Holy Bible. That explains Christianity, the laws of Christ. According to those laws, God, Jehovah sent his spirit son down to earth to be reborn from a virginal womb, to certify that his son Christ was born perfect. This birth was designed by God Jehovah to wash the blemish of sin from mankind, allowing him to fight the enemy death and be granted everlasting life.
The life of Christ details God Jehovah setting straight laws that were sent preceding Christ in which man took it upon himself to add ritutals, adding additional rules and codicils to be more self serving. These were the birth of the first religions. Moses tried to set people straight, but they still wanted variety of Gods and rituals and tithes, etc.
The belief system may be the same in most of the religions, but they vary depending upon what precept man has added. So to answer your question, yes modern religion is no different than mythology.
"TRUE": Scripture has factual, prophetic information in it to back up what God Jehovah wants us to know. Take that and work with it,
"FALSE": But religion is what man wants us to know and you can put that with Pandora and all the rest of the folk tales that were created to explain what they did not understand.

No. But calling them mythology would not make any of them any less true, either.

Unfortunately not. However, your point is lost on those who cannot think for themselves....
Perhaps we are wasting our time debating this subject. Religious people will never change - they cannot, as their minds are too shallow to allow for independant thought. And we all know that independant thought is required in order to see through the viel of lies that religion is....
