I got my cat at a shelter. And he is really sweet.
He just likes getting outside. I am to assuming he was an outdoor cat before I had him.
It is really annoying having to crawl through my neighbors bushes to get him.
I have bought numerous collars for him to wear with tags and everything...only thing is he is a feline houdini. And gets anything we put on him, off.
Ok the point is I dont like it when he gets outside because we have really nasty strays around here that would probably kill him. And people drive down my street REALLY fast. Im afraid that he will get hurt and not come back home.
Anything to stop him from getting out?? =\

You'll have to learn to be faster than the cat is and keep him indoors.

If you have the space, you might consider building him a little outdoors area (with the top coverred so he can't climb out!) That way he'll be able to enjoy being outside in relative safety. Use chicken or rat wire for the space, and give him a little house for when it rains, and something he can climb and play on.

Good luck!

Well first, put the collar on tight so that it won't slip off, but not too tight so that it will choke him! Then every time he gets out or trys to get out pick him up say no, and maybe a spray bottle will help. They work pretty well, b/c they hate water! Just reinforcement!! Now, when my cat gets outside, all I have to do is yell at her and she goes back in the house! My other cat was an outdoor cat and she hates going outside now, she will go over to the door if it's open for a long time, but never go out!

I had a stray that I took in that did the same thing. Every time I opened the door she ran out. I had to chase her everywhere. She ended up getting used to being indoors and everything worked out.
I didn't use any sprays, I just made sure to watch her and block the door if I opened it. It took about a month to get used to it. She actually really liked when I opened up the window, she would sit and stare out it for hours.

Good Luck!

I think all cats are Houdini's. About the only thing you can do is to keep your cat in a home kennel when you can't be right there to watch him. If you haven't had him neutered, you may want to consider that. Neutering will calm a cat down and they won't want to wander as much.

They sell a spray for cats called something like keep off. It's supposed to deter cats from going to a certain area. Try spraying it around the doors and windows. Good Luck.

just keep him inside, he wont like it AT FIRST but as you know cats have a memory span of about a month or two, he will adapt to being an indoor cat and probably wont totally forget the outside since you probably have windows but he will get used to it, just like he had to get used to living in the pound and then he got used to living in your house, get a spray bottle if he keeps going for the door and squirt him every time he goes near it whether its open or shut, cats are smart he will learn. and its not a harsh treatment at all.

i'd supply it extra time to be certain if it changed into only some thing he ate one time. If it keeps up, then possibly that is a reaction to the recent foodstuff. yet like you stated, he may only be adjusting to the recent foodstuff. i'd supply it yet another week or so, to verify. Vets may be quite severe priced only to inform you some thing think about found out on your own! placed a mat or some thing around the muddle field so as that that is a lot less complicated to manage his blunders even as you're waiting to be certain if he receives over it in a lifelike era of time.

You know you can buy big outdoor cat enclosers(they look a bit like greenhouses) and they can see everything outside and you can plant grass and small trees in them and he is away from the dangers of strays and cars

just try to be careful when going in or out of your house my cats would love to get outside but I dont let that happen I dont want them to get hit or attacked or anything but the fact that he gets out of his collar is good cuz if he ever got stuck he could just slip out of it and save himself from getting choked if possible put him out side on a chain in your yard or a safe place under your supervision of course and let him wander around while he is on the chain tied up just keep an eye on him to see if he will accually tolerate being on a leash type thing I had a cat that we would tie up in the back yard when we would go out side and he loved every minute of it maybe it wont work for you but try it if you can

There's not a lot you can do ,but if you close all doors and windows, give him a litter box and lots of attention, he might become a house cat.
Good Luck!
