I just bought a Yaris a couple of weeks ago. I am absolutely in love!! They are very roomy for such a small car, and they also get really great gas milage, I would say 35 city and 38 hwy. The only cons are that there isnt much storage on the inside, they don't have much power (but what do you expect from a 1.5 liter?) and when you go over 55 mph, they tend to roam on the road (because of the power assisted steering). But i think the pros outweigh the cons, it is a very fun car to drive, and i am very happy with my purchase. But definately get the power package (ABS, power doors, power locks, etc.). Everyone's opinion is different though, so I would reccommend that you test drive several cars before making a final decision, I researched the Yaris for at least 2 weeks

Hey there, I test drove it about a month ago, and did not care for it at all. The base one is very base...no amenities at all, and very plain looking on the inside. I ended up getting a Mazda 3 which I love, awesome stereo, and my payments on a lease are only $208 a month. All I can say is test drive, test drive, test drive. I even test drove the car I was going to buy before I signed the paperwork. Good luck!
