First, you have to buy into the claim that some dude made dust from nothing and you from dust.

Following this, you have to swallow the claim that you're a sinner because some chick listened to a talking snake.

Next, you have to buy into the claim that you may be punished in some Hell dimension for your sins.

Later, you have to accept the claim that some guy allowed himself to be tortured and killed so that you don't have to go to the other dimension.

After you have swallowed all of this you have to realize it doesn't make sense and accept it anyway................ And you'll be rewarded for doing that..............

Is that the jist of it or am I missing something?

- - First, you have to buy into the claim that some dude made dust from nothing and you from dust. - -

I don't know, something coming from nothing is logically impossible... And, interestingly - dust is human skin particles... our bodies are made from the same elements that are present in the soil... Carbon, Hydrogen, Oxygen, Nitrogen etc.

-- Following this, you have to swallow the claim that you're a sinner because some chick listened to a talking snake. --

We are sinners because we prefer to live our lives apart from God, we prefer to determine our own path and make our own choices instead of being obedient to God's will for our lives. Are you saying you are immune from making bad, selfish choices that put yourself ahead of others? I am not.

-- Next, you have to buy into the claim that you may be punished in some Hell dimension for your sins. --

Justice demands it. Does it make sense that we can murder and rape and steal and die fat and happy and sleep just as peacefully as Mother Theresa? If there is any justice in the universe (and my rational mind insists on it) then judgment makes sense.

If there is a heaven where there is no evil or pain, then hell must exist as a quarantine for those with free wills who refuse to stop committing evil. Otherwise there can be no heaven.

--Later, you have to accept the claim that some guy allowed himself to be tortured and killed so that you don't have to go to the other dimension.--

That "some guy" would be God himself. Who understands that you are spiritually dead because of the choices that you've made. Jesus knew that we were seperated from God so he chose to take on our punishment for us to give us an opportunity to be made right with God.

--After you have swallowed all of this you have to realize it doesn't make sense and accept it anyway................ And you'll be rewarded for doing that..............--

Of all that I have researched and explored in my life, the selfless sacrifice of a holy God because he loves me makes more sense than anything else in the world.

I am humbled and in awe of his love and his grace. I won't be rewarded for accepting it. I won't be rewarded for anything I do - the love that God gives me is free and unconditional, the sacrifice that Christ made on my behalf is a gift and it is the only thing that will speak for me when I stand before God on judgment day.

Well, a Christian is supposed to believe that the whole Bible is true, not just the part about Adam and Eve. It's a pretty long story but you've got it pretty straight...if you wanted every detail, you should call a church in your community. But basically God told Adam and Eve not to eat from that tree, and they did, and so then they had pretty much unleashed their punishment, which is death. Jesus took that punishment for us and died on the cross. So now, if you want to be forgiven and lose your punishment, you just have to believe that Jesus is real and that he really did that, and admit that you can't get to heaven without his sacrafice. And when you ask him to give you forgiveness, you are considered a Christian. But it's not just a name or religion. It's a lifestyle. If you become a Christian you need to follow the Bible's rules. It's kind of confusing, but I believe in it, and being a Christian I feel more responsible and careful. I'm a better person now, honestly.

You become a Christian by believing in Jesus Christ. Now Jesus is God. God is also Father and Holy Spirit. All 3 are 1 - it is a mystery (not spookiness but simply a mystery)that is accepted by faith. All you have to do is have faith.

All you have to do to become a christian as I said before is acknowledge your incapacities and ask Jesus to be your Lord and Savior. All human beings have a predilection to sin....think about it, you don't teach a child to lie, he will eventually lie to his parents......that is what is meant by man is born into sin.

As simple as that transaction of acknowledgement of your own incapacities is, a whole lot takes place behind the scenes that you do not see. God will deposit inside of you an incorruptible seed that will grow and change you from the inside out - a new spirit. Though your physical nature does not change, your spirit is renewed.

Just a little bit more - we are made up of spirit, soul and body. Your spirit is that part of you that communicates with God - it is not palpable. Your soul is your feeling, thinking and deciding part of you. And your body is your physical make up. Your soul will decide whether or not to accept God. God is spirit and cannot be touched physically.

I challenge you to take the chance of believing in God and watch what happens - it is not a lie - God is real and mos of all he loves you!!

What you are missing is the love. Sounds like you have trouble believing that God died for you. To become a christian the first thing you do is realize that you are a sinner. You have to realize that you have done wrong. If you don't realize that you are wrong and it is legitimate than God is not going to hear you. You can't come to God in any type of way.
If any man come to God he must believe that he exist and that he is a rewarder of them that seek him. If the story of Adam and Eve sounds foolish to you than the truth of the matter is you are going to have a hard time with your soul salvation. If you have to see things to believe it, and have to be present for it to happen to you than you are faithless and you don't believe and therefore you cannot become a christian. You must repent of your sins. This means that you feel Godly sorrow for the sins that you have committed. This means that you actually can admit that you are a sinner, not based on what anyone else says but what the bible says and if you can't believe the bible than yet again you cannot become a christian.
You must be baptized in the name of Jesus. This means you must be submerged under water and pulled back up again. The reason is because Jesus died and he rose and this is a sort of cleansing. Though our sins be as scarlet God can make them whiter than snow.
You must be filled with the holyghost and speak with other tongues as the spirit of God gives utterance. The holyghost is the only sure way that you are a christian. thats what separates you from the world. the world can repent and they can get baptized but if they do not have the holyghost they are none of his.
Like I said in order to be a christian you have to believe the word of God if you don't than maybe this is not for you. You cannot come to God as if he needs you, you need him. We are nothing without him and God looks at the attitude of a person and their heart. God is love and when you wrote this, it seems like you have a problem with belief. You need to pray that God open up your understanding to his word. If you don't believe it still I will continue to pray for you as I am a firm believer that everyone is entitled to believe what they want. But I know what I stand for.
May God bless you

Pretty much sums it up. Some of the other faiths are pretty interesting. You can believe in the next life your going to be a toad if your not on you best behavior 24/7. Or you can kiss the floor on your mat 5 times a day...Personally I hate getting up that early, and my sense of direction is horrible.

So yeah
Step 1.
I love Jesus and Jesus loves me.
Step 2.
Ask for forgiveness.
Step 3.
Don't kill yourself but manage to die.
Step 4.
Go to Heaven.

That is the jist of it. But you forget that after Jesus died for your sins and rose again. He is alive and well in Heaven. I know its hard to believe but that's where faith comes in. You have to believe just as a little child believes in Santa or the Tooth Fairy. There is no evidence of them, but there is of Jesus. Many people have had situations where the only answer is Jesus did this, made this happen. My aunt should have lost her foot. The doctor believed that an operation wouldn't help and that she would lose her foot. But she didn't. People prayed to Jesus for her and she still has her foot. This is just one example of evidence of Jesus. I pray that you will believe.

No, that's not it at all! What you're describing is being saved, and one day EVERY knee will bow and every tongue confess that he is God. To be a Christian is to walk in the light and ways of the one and ONLY savior. This happens only after you've accepted the real truth, and allow Jesus to be the Lord of your life. Do you have to do it? No. You can choose to stay ignorant and go to hell, but that's your choice. I know the truth, and I KNOW where I'm going.
Jesus Is Coming
"Behold, I am coming soon! Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy in this book." I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things. And when I had heard and seen them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who had been showing them to me. But he said to me, "Do not do it! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers the prophets and of all who keep the words of this book. Worship God!" Then he told me, "Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book, because the time is near. Let him who does wrong continue to do wrong; let him who is vile continue to be vile; let him who does right continue to do right; and let him who is holy continue to be holy." "Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. "Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city. Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood. "I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star." The Spirit and the bride say, "Come!" And let him who hears say, "Come!" Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life. I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book. He who testifies to these things says, "Yes, I am coming soon." Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God's people. Amen.
