First off Congratulation on your efforts to begin a healthy lifestyle.

However, the diet that you have composed for yourself from what I can tell by your writing is less than 1000 calories a day..which is very unhealthy. Depending on your current weight, you should consume a minimum of 1200 calories a day. The 10 lbs that you lost, is typical, when you start any diet, as most of it is due to your body adjusting to your new schedule, and any excess water weight you were carrying. After this first week ,unless you do vigorous workouts daily, your body will typically lose between 2-3 lbs a week. Anything more than that is unhealthy.

The best way to figure it out is that 1lb is about 3500 calories. which means in order for you to lose 60 lbs by october which is just over 10 weeks a way, you would need to lose about 6 lbs a week. 6 lbs a week means that you would have to figure out a way to burn off 3000 calories a day more than you intake. Which is really unhealthy. Also your body will fight you every step of the way. which means that more or less you will end up not meeting your high goals, and end up gaining more than you do now.

Losing weight needs to be about life changes and not quick fixes.
Aim for exercising 1 hour a day, and monitoring your diet to about 1200 calories a day. It may take longer but you will lose the weight.

You're on the right track and doing what you need to do. But you need to get it in your head that food is not a reward, it's what your body needs for energy. You should go to Wal-mart (or someplace similar) and get a bottle of psyllium capsules. It's a fiber supplement. Take 5 at a time with a big glass of cold water about 4 times a day. There are no calories and it's good for you. They swell in your stomach and make you feel full. Especially late at night. That was the worst time for me because I work 2nd shift. I am currently dieting under my doctor's care and the advice came from him. Best dieting advice I ever got. Just keep up the good work. Once you adjust to a new lifestyle of eating healthy, it will just come naturally. Good Luck!!!!!!!!!

Okay, 60lbs by October is not healthy. Losing 2lbs a week is healthy though you can push it to 5 without compromising your health too much. Second, screw the SlimFast drinks. For the amount of calories they contain, you may as well eat a meal. When you're shopping for food, opt for the lower calorie options- buy light bread, mustard instead of mayo, fat free cheese. Eat lots of fruit & vegs. Fills you up and no one ever got fat eating too many strawberries.

Here's the kicker about weight loss- your body likes fat. It keeps it toasty and it's an energy reserve. If you start to lose too much weight too fast, it will shut down and you'll start losing muscle, not fat. Find one of those handy free weight analysis programs on the computer. Figure out your optimum height/weight and the amount of calories you need to consume daily to optimize your weight loss. Weight Watchers has one of the best programs out there.

I'm in the same boat- I'd like to lose 40lbs by November for a couple of big events coming up, but I'm not going to compromise my health over it. It took a while to gain the weight, so take the time to lose it correctly.

It sounds like you are doing what you need to be doing. You'll definitely lose 60 pounds by October. Maybe cut out a meal and run a mile every day. If your starving keep raw carrots or fresh salads stocked and stay away from the grocery store when you are hungry, because people tend to buy snack foods full of calories and fat. Good Luck!

Sounds like you are doing ok for the most part. Keep moderately exercising & eating healthy/sensibly like you have been. I'd be careful though...do not starve yourself AND lose the weight too fast. Starving yourself messes up your metabolism & losing 10 lbs in 4 days is kinda dangerous. It's best to lose a little at a time.

I think that is a good way to lose weight. This seems to me basically what all the doctors and dieticians are trying to tell the public. And as for the weight, the fastest I've ever lost was 5 lbs. a week. So 10 lbs in four days is great!

Eat lean meats, veggies and exercise. Dont starve yourself, that will only make your metabolism slower. My brother lost a ton of weight by eating 5 small meals a day and exercise...lot's of exercise, his metabolism is working like crazy and he's dropping the pounds. I would do some research on healthy diets but you seem to be doing pretty good if you lost 10 lbs..but remember, much of that is water weight and the loss will slow down once you get rid of all that excess water. Good luck dear.

the best thing to do is not eating too much. Let say, you eat three chocolates per day. Reduce it : one chocolate. If you eat 100 g of noodles, just eat the 3/4 of it.
Reducing the amount of your food is good... but the best thing is to do sport. 'cause no matter how much you don't eat, if you don't do sports, it won't help you.

There's something that a chinese star did : eating only bananas and nothing else during two months...

Hope it can help you

I think you need to learn how to compose basic English first. That being said, go slow with the weight loss! It's more important that you develop sound eating and exercise habits in the first few months than it is that you lose lots of pounds. People who go on extreme diets almost always tend to rebound. Why? Because they are not interested in being healthy, just in losing weight. Losing weight is irrelevant, being healthy is not. Take your time, learn to eat well, and work out. Good luck!

I am currently 5'11 @ 198 lbs, a year ago I was 169, and two and a half years ago I was 272. And before I moved out I was about 170 give or take 15 lbs. The reason for my weight gain after I moved out was because my parents didn't have a lot of junk food in the house, as a family we had plentiful meals but, in between I never snacked. When I moved out of my parents and in with my girlfriend, that's all we bought was junk food, I plumped out to 272 in about eighteen months. At around this point I lost my job, and couldn't afford food one month, don't get me wrong, we still ate but, it was only a meal a day for like year. In that year, you got to remember this was not intentional, I stopped drinkin soda, and started to drink water, I found myself eating like crap still but, a meal a day wasn't to bad. I lost over 100 lbs in over a couple of years. My point is, drink a ton of water, and eat once a day, your stomach will get used to it not having as much put into it and it will begin to get smaller, resulting in reduced cravings and eating less after a few months, but it is worth it at the end. All of what I just wrote is just my own experience that was unintentional at first but after I began to notice I was losing weight I began to just roll with it. I wish the best of luck to you!!!!!!!!!
