They stay right here... saw one just yesterday. The only reason we see robins more in the winter is because they become particularly bold when they're foraging for food when it's scarce in the winter.
The robin I saw yesterday didn't have his full "red breast" so maybe he was either a young bird or perhaps in the summer months they aren't quite so brightly coloured due to moulting - which may also explain why we don't notice them as much.

Some robins retreat all the way to southern Texas and Florida, but others winter as far north as they can find berries. So robins have an enormous winter range. They can also fly thousands of miles, such as the individuals that migrate from Vancouver Island to as far south as Guatemala. Others don't migrate at all, such as robins that breed in southern Mexico and Baja California. Most robins migrate intermediate distances.

hi robbins dont go anywhere the only thing that happens to them is the red on there chest is less noticeable in summer it tends to fade but you do see them still in winter the chest stands out more i think its because they are more easily spotted in dark cold days and not so much in sunshine my theory anyway

They stay here all year its only in the winter when they prepare to mate when their breast feathers turn red otherwise they look very much like a large starling during the rest of the year!!

They don't go anywhere - I think we are just more aware of them in the winter as they are a lovely christmas/winter image.
