summerise? hmm... summarize?
"god a job"? hmm... "good a job"? hmm... "terrible a job"?
"Please summarize Christianity and try and do as terrible a job as edsawyer..."
I don't think it's possible to misunderstand Christianity quite as well as edsawyer.
He misunderstood the Old Testament. People were always saved by trusting in God for salvation.
He misunderstood the Trinity. God is One in essence/being. There are Three Persons who are that essence. To begin to understand this we must realize that there are two different categories. The first is essence, also called being. The second is Person. An example would be that you are one person but many years old. Person and years are different categories. There is no way to completely understand this. It is a great comfort to know we cannot completely understand God. He would not be much of a God if everyone understood Him completely.
edsawyer also misunderstood Jesus. Jesus is God. He has the essence of God. He is also one of the three Persons of God. Jesus, when He was incarnated, took on a second nature. He had God's nature and a human nature. So when Jesus died it was His humanity that died, not His deity.
edsawyer also misunderstood responsibility. God is sovereign so in the least He allows all things. This does not, however, make Him responsible for everything. It is our heart and our motivation that is so evil that it conceives and carries out these actions. God's sovereignty allows Him to work His perfect plan out of the combination of our actions and His actions.

I'll do my best - Christianity is not a religion - it is the way life is supposed to be; God's origininal plan for man. The goal of 'Christianity' is to be like Christ. Christ is the end goal - not knowledge or gaining some weird or spooky 'spirituality'.
The term Christian as we know it today was actually a derogatory term used to describe those who followed Jesus....but with time it was used to describe those who professed Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
If you are interested in becoming like Christ, all you have to do is ackowledge you deficiency as a person and ask Jesus to change your heart and for him to be your Lord and Savior. As simple as that transaction is, a whole lot happens once you acknowledge that by your actions or by being good you can never reach God's standards - only he and he alone can justify you and accord you righteousness that comes from him.
I should also add that this is just the beginning of the journey - you will have alot of adventures with God as you continue to grow in him.
Let me know if you have any questions....

Christ is God, loving gwbruce enough to come to earth in flesh to experience walking as a Man among men, and knowing the temptations he faces every day...to let him get to know Him as He truly is, not as He had been represented in the past...and, finally, to sacrifice that flesh so that he would not have to die.
Christianity is Christ teaching me to love gwbruce too...realizing that I am no better, smarter, or holier than he is.
I don't expect to get a "best answer" for this, but then, I'm not here for the points, anyhow. I just hope you will think about it. Christianity isn't as popular as it was a decade ago...and, if I am reading my Bible correctly, it will get even less popular. In fact, soon, the rest of the world will honestly think they have done away with Christianity, and they will be very pleased with themselves about it.
But you might want to climb down off of the "bash the Christians" bandwagon...before it crashes....

Christianity is a belief system based largely on the writings of a follower known as St. Paul;. The principal features of Christiainity are a belief that Jesus Christ was a deity in human form, sent to Earth by the "father" or creator spirit, for the purpose of instructing mankind about spiritual principles and suffering execution in order to assume the burden of mankind's sins. In Christian belief Jesus returned to life after 3 days in a tomb and his spiritual and corporeal form were assumed into "heaven." Basic Christian theology requires 1) Belief in Christ the deity; 2) Belief in the suffering and death of Christ for the "redemption" of sins; 3) Belief in the Resurrection. ALL OTHER requirements are theological additions imposed by various churches and thinkers according to their interpretation of various Scriptures. Baptism, for example, is not a specific requirement.

This is a very large question, one too grand to accurately explain in a summary. I can tell you that Christianity is believing and following Christ but this answer is far too simple to leave it at that. I can also tell you that Christianity is a freedom and love that I will personally never give up, one that my heart is dedicated to for eternity. If you would like Christian answers to specific questions I would recommend going to the following: www.christiananswers.net
Do not give up seeking the Truth....although sometimes obstructed by a cloud of deception, it is yours to find and embrace.

Fundamental beliefs:
(1) There is one God, in three forms: God the Father, the Son of God Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit.
(2) God sent His only Son Jesus to Earth, in human form, to die on the cross for our sins instead of punishing us for our own sins.
(3) Human beings can have eternal life in heaven if they accept Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior, and ask forgiveness for their sins.

Sir, Christianity is the belief and following of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior...
Jesus, who is God saw that the world was going to doom.
He saw that the Adversary(Devil) had a firm grip on mankind.
Therefore, God decided to save us. But who else can save us?
God himself. So God came from heaven in the form of flesh (Jesus Christ) and lived a most perfect life. the devil did not corrupt Jesus, I mean he was perfect. Therefore he was the most perfect man and being perfect he decided to die a most humiliating death (being that he didn't deserve it cause he's perfect) in order to save us. It's hard to explain here, but being perfect and willing to die for man, God granted Jesus everything!!
EVERYTHING!! And Jesus asked that if we only BELIEVED! That's important to know. BELIEVE as in have faith that he came to the world to save us, then he would grant us eternal life in heaven. That's the way the devil can not defeat us. Now we all have to live this life in the flesh and suffer as Jesus did, but the reward is perfect! AND in the act of BELIEVEING we become aware that we are not alone and that someone loves us and will take care of us. We become to change, we become less selfish and hateful and more caring and loving.... that's true Christianity!
To be aware that God is and he loves us and want us to only believe and take care one another..

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. John chapter 3 v 16.
The Bible says that you must be born again. Flesh gives birth to flesh, and spirit gives birth to spirit. You have of course be born naturally, but each person needs to be born spiritually, because we are made up of body soul and spirit.
How can you be born again?
Repent (which means to turn away from your sin - wrong doing).
As God to forgive you of all your past wrong and you need to be genuine when you ask for forgiveness.
Ask Jesus to cleanse you from all unrighteousness
Determine to give your life to Him, asking Him to take control of your life your will.

It's a crutch.
You take all your hopes, dreams, aspirations, fears, and any other issue you can't figure out or deal with personally and you lay them on the shoulders of Jesus Christ. Some dead guy who we aren't really sure ever existed but if he did he is supposed to be the son of god. That's another guy who is the supposed creator of all existance.

"... For God so loved the world that He sent His Only Begotten Son, that whosoever believeth should not die, but have everlasting life."
THAT'S why everyone always quotes John 3:16. It IS the summation of Christianity.
