If the cat knows it's name you have to keep it or you will confuse it! If it has been called sweetie for over 2 weeks then you should probably keep the name otherwise it might never learn it's name! My gram's kitten's name is sweetie! She is sooo cute!

If you like the name Sweetie, it's a girl and answers to Sweetie, then why not? If you call it something different it will be confused!

Poor cat.....lol
Well, that's totally up to you. But I've always liked "personable" names for cats. Like Jasmine, Oscar, Leopold, Bosley, Charlotte, I find it adds to the cuteness of the animal. Their name should express their personality. Just like human names sort of "fit" the person. Animals deserve to have names...at least give them that in their short life. My horse is like my child, I could never name my son "Lightning" or "Dusty"....you get what I'm saying? (His name is Leo by the way) Take a good look at your cat and the first name you feel is "right", say it out loud, and ask your cat if he/she likes it. They do have the comprehension of a 4 year old human you know..... they just can't speak to us.
Names are important! And "Sweetie" is a cute nickname, but it wouldn't be good enough for any of my animals! Good luck!

Why not? It's your cat, and Sweetie answers to it.
