I have combined an SSRI medication (Lexapro), with CBT (Cognitave Behavioral Therapy), and it has done wonders for me.
The medication kind of gives you a kick start, and the CBT gives you the tools to maintain for the rest of your life.
I don't know if things will ever be "the same"... but they are so much better for me now that it doesn't matter.
Good luck to you.

It just takes time. I've been there before. I had a couple seizures earlier recently and I had one about 2 years ago and they are utterly devistating. The fact is, it ruins a lot of your hopes and dreams in knowing you can't do this or that because of what you went through. It's not fair but you'll realize that life isn't fair and your are who you are.
I know the mental breakdown is not the same as having seizures but the thing is, the after effects are very much the same. The depression, the mental problems that come along with both are very much the same. You get so unsure of yourself it's almost sad to know that when you know your so capable of more in your life.
My suggestion is this, take baby steps. Start going to do little things everyday. Go to the store and meet new people. Go on a few dates, that really helped me get my confidence back in my everyday life that really pushed me to do more.
It took me months and I ended up going to do a job out of state with a friend of mines dad which REALLY helped me being away from the everyday grind of being around all my friends and family that tried to help but got frustrated with my lack of will to get myself through. I ended up moving from WA to Las Vegas, NV and the life change was great for me. I met new people and experienced new things.
If you ever want to talk, send me an email at bryansmith2006@yahoo.com. I'd be happy to talk a little further with you if you need some help with anything.

It's hard to tell with such little information. I would say if you are taking a ton of medictaion that supresses your need to cry and work through the first problem then you won't be able to get over it until you walk through it. The longer you take medicine to cover it up the longer it will take to heal (and I don't know if you are taking medicine so I apologize for the assumption) My mother has been over medicated for years and looks like a zombie and she refuses to try anymore, its just sad that she won't.I'll pray for you and you rely on Jesus to help you, He will walk with you.

Were you hospitalized when you had the breakdown? Do you take medications or get talk therapy for this problem?
You will recover in time, differs for people.

I was riding in a taxicab this morning and there was a female dispatcher on the two-way radio. She was dispatching the cabs to various addresses and the usual dispatch chatter was going on. Suddenly, the dispatcher asked?... Michael Hunt, are you out there... Mike? Do you read me?... Mike Hunt, Mike Hunt... Come in, ... Come In... Come in Mike Hunt. I don't know why this seems so funny to me- it was just a cab ride.

I couldn't stop laughing. I think something shot out of my nose!

Have you talked to a psychiatrist? If not, you could probably recover quicker.
