My hair is naturally blonde and I've been highlighting it a lighter shade for about 4 years. I'm getting a bit bored of having the same colour every time and I really fancy a drastic change like dying my hair a really rich brown or even black. I really don't know whether I'll like it though, I mean it could look awful but then you never know until you try it!

Dont, Go for a lighter brown. Black hair will bring out everything wrong with your face[blemishes etc] and dying it too dark, it wil turn out a wierd color. but do go for a brown color a honey brown color would look pretty i think. And coloring your hair wont dry it out. Only dying it blonde will, for ppl with naturally dark hair.

In all honesty, I would suggest going to a wig shop and trying on the colours you are considering. Since you are a natural blonde, I think both deep brown or black would be too harsh for your skin tone.

I'm aware a few years back of a software program that enabled you to try different hairstyles electronicaly before the drastic aaction of actualy going through with this.
if you have a great photo editing software program try taking a photo and then editing the picture to show the colour you are considering. now print this out and if you like the colur go for it. it's your hair you have to live with it. forget everyone elses opinion. who realy knows whats best for anyone.
we all should stop worrying about wht other people think and start living our lives for ourselves.

remeber though if you are considering dating do you hair to match your eybrows and other body hair to be delicate. other wise you could end up looking totaly like an idiot. and i'm sure you are not.

remebr the choice is yours i think there are companies out and about that have this software for you to try different styles before you go for the final colour and style. however these are going to be expensive.
good luck

Well, several magazines suggest trying something more subtle, like going a light red before experimenting with more dramatic hair colors. Celebrities do the dramatic everyday, so it's truly a matter of opinion. If you do go bold, I would try a temporary dye before you get it professionally done. Professional salon colors usually last for 6 weeks.

OMG, DONT DO IT!!!! let me tell you from personal experience. I'm suffering right now because i went from blonde to dark brown because i was bored with my hair color, then i decided i didnt like it anymore so i wanted to go back to blonde, so i went to the salon, and the girl said, nope, cant do it, because my hair was so fried and dry from other colorings that the only way to get my hair back to blonde is using bleach or peroxide, and that will make my hair fall out.

It is impossible to make your dark hair go back to blonde, it wont work, you can only use bleach or peroxide, but its soooooo damaging, so now im sooo disapointed and i feel so stupid, I just should of listened and kept my hair blonde.

BAD- u naturally have shiny hair but if u dye it a totally different color, it will loose its shine because the dye scrapes up the particles in ur hair

i have platinum hair and went red. Worst experience of my liife. It took a stylist/hairdressor almost four hours to remove and restore my color. I recommend highlights in your hair, its given me hours of compliments and my hubby thinks it rocks. I have loved it since.
