Seriously people - how can we expect to change with the times when your Bible refuses to allow change? The Bible was written in such a way as to make everything unquestionable: It is written by God, so it is infallible. It says inside of it that people/Satan will attempt to convince you that it is not real, but it is. The complete circular logic found inside this work of literature prevents any believer from thinking on thier own, or from accepting change - just look at the amount of questions yesterday regarding rap in churches....
How can your religion survive if it refuses to adapt??

Please do not take offense - I am not ridiculing your practices. I would just like to know how the peple think the philosophies they practice can survive in the current world. After all, almost every early religion in the history of the world has died out...

For those who misinterpret what I am saying: #1 - who mentioned evolution?? Not I... #2 - if ancient early religions still survive, could someone please tell me where I can go tear the heart out of a living victim so that I may offer it to a rain god?? Or, perhaps someone can tell me where they are still building pyramids so that the Pharoh may reach the afterlife???

OPEN YOUR MINDS. Not ALL examples may be covered. But just because one ancient religion does still exist doesnt mean Im wrong and that ALL still exist....

Have those religions really "died out"? There are Neo-Pagans reviving religious practices of ancient eras, Islams and Hinduism are still incredibly strong in areas, Jews are still around. . .it does seem as though, regardless of the beliefs systems, people will progress, the religious map of the world is beginning to shift drastically. . .technologically, socially, and all other ways except politically, the world is progressing, it would appear. I do agree with your sentiments about this circular logic, however.

I think the Bible has NOT died out because it can be interpreted in so many ways. You say that everything is unquestionable, but I disagree. If you truly know the Bible, EVERYTHING is questionable, including, obviously, it's authenticity.

People feel free to interpret the Bible in whatever way fits their lifestyle. As long as this continues, the religion will probably continue. What is ironic, is that those people who push for a strict interpretation of the Bible are probably doing religion more harm than good. In today's world, very few people could or would live their lives in by such a strict interpretation.

Finally, I am also not ridiculing anyone's practices, but it is hard not to when a person can virtually live their lives any way they want, and then interpret the rules to justify their actions. OR, just go ask for forgiveness........

and Vij, wouldn't you think God's writing would be a little more clear and concise????

First of all the bible was not written by god (your thinking in turns of the Quoran whos followers belive that those are the words of god verbatum) it is written by profets who have been inspired (big differnce) by god. Another thing the reason the bible and its word and message dosent change is because logicly god cant change because that would meen he wasent god because he is already perfect this must also hold true for his message. As to how religion survives with out adaptation? Its done a pretty good job so far christianitys survived over 2000 years with the first 300 its followers killed for fun. And you have made an error in your question, The worlds oldest known religion is still around today... Hinduism. Things may change in the world and so does religion (in some ways) there was not any mention in the bible about abortion yet religions all around the monotheistic faiths preach against it. Religion changes on the surface but the core stays the same for every religious person and faith Love God.
Oh and we beet the morman faith with followers with 1.07 BILLION followers!

The bible doesn't need to change. We as a people must change and abide by the words of the bible to change. The bible is more than "literature" but GOD HIMSELF. If GOD gave you the ability to not choose him and his words why do you think for yourself? Free will is a choice. Religion has survived for ages and will be here until the end.

Your right. Progression is not possible with stubbornness. There is a quote in James l verse 5 that say, If any of you lack wisdom let him ask of god who giveth to all men liberally and upbraideth not. The prophet Joseph Smith when he was reading this verse had a question in his heart about which church he should join, it seemed all agreed on the same doctrine so differently. He prayed to know the truth. Jesus Christ and God the Father appeared to Joseph and told him to join none of the churches. He said they draw near to me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Later, Joseph was instructed to restore the church of Jesus Christ, was given authority by God to baptize and also was given the priesthood by Peter, James, & John. Once again in our time a prophet, seer and revelator was called. God is the same yesterday, today and forever. His church is restored through Joseph Smith. There are 12 apostles and the same organization that existed in the primitive church. Also, the prophet today President Gordon B. Hinckley receives revelation and direction from our Lord Jesus Christ in preparation of His coming to this earth soon. In the name of Jesus Christ

We must think on our own and seek the Truth. It is here on earth.

My opinion is that if then existed some wise people, such people exist also now.
In fact, on Yahoo Answers are so much answers so we can make a new religion. We are not foolish. We have to live in future and not in the past.

I really do not care if humans evolved from the monkey, or the rabbit or any thing else. What I know is that I believe that Jesus died on the cross to take away the sins of man.
