It is totally unnecessary. The ovn is already evenly heated. Just put the potatoes on the rack.

Also, A potato cooks in the microwave in ten minutes or so and taste exactly the same

Any kitchenware shop but do not put it into a microwave. A much better way to bake a potatoe is to cut a half inch cut along its side and put it in a microwave for four minutes. Let it stand and then test it, do it further in two minute stages until it is perfect. I would never go back to baking in the oven.........

It's called an aluminum potato nail. I think I've seen them at walmart. Don't use it in the microwave!

You can also go to any store that carries Metal kabob skewers, they are also usually flat and are made out of aluminum.

Just poke holes in it will a fork and wrap it in a paper towel if you nuke it or tin foil if you oven bake it.

Use a shiskabob skewer, the work great, so does the fork and tin foil!

my 85 year old friend has come up w/ a bag that you stick the potato in (no pokes), microwave it for such-n-such amount of time & presto-chango----!
