The sun has been up at my house for 3 1/2 hours.
Have a good one
I just went to look at his other questions. Here is what I think. What a load of crap! Why is it okay for him to ask this question:
"I've been eating celery and my girlfriend nearly choked due to the amount of sperm i shot is there a connection?"
But it isn't okay for him to ask a question about a sunrise? Makes no damn sense to me.

Think the trouble with the question is that it has the potential to inform invading alien forces of the nature of our planet.
From this information the size, rotation and possibly even weather patterns could be calculated, thus making us easier to conquer.
During the second world war ( I think, may have been first erm ) there was a slogan " careless talk costs lives " here it presumably is " careless questions cost planets " !!! ...
We shall see, maybe this answer will give a race that has got here across interstellar spaces an advantage they had not considered !!!
In which case Ooops sorry world ... ;-) ...
Beam me up Sally ...

Questions of that nature, while not abusive in themselves, are not within the 'spirit' of the site; that is, it is not an objective question, and it is not really possible to put together a comprehensive answer. How would you select a best answer for that question?
Aside from that, the question could have stayed open for up to seven days; people could respond at any time during those days, so you wouldn't gain a lot of useful information. The answers you receive would tell you more about the demographics of web users that you have reached with your question; for example, full time students or workers would be likely to respond with "yes" (becase they would not be able to stay up too late/early due to those commitments), whereas shift workers/unemployed/self employed people would have a slightly higher chance of responding with "no".
You'd be better off heading to somewhere like timeanddate.com and looking at the timezone offsets there, or asking specific questions about the nature of timezone offsets. Having said that, I would not report a question like yours as a policy violation.

I really can't see how a question like that would be considered offensive by anyone even in its worst context - implying someone is stupid. Maybe Yahoo made a mistake. If you asked then why, would they tell you?

asking if the sun's come up is illegal on here? you're joking, right? with all the other incendiary questions and comments going on around here i'd think people would have better things to complain about.
