I personally believe in the power of prayer. No one can come to the father lest he be drawn by God, so you can pray for a person all you want, there will come a time when that person has to realize their wrong. That's the purpose of feeling Godly sorrow for the sins that you have committed. Those that don't except prayer, well pray for them still, by doing this you have planted a seed in his/her heart. You planted, someone will water, and God will give the increase.
If someone doesn't want you to pray for them than publically you don't have to. How do they know if you are praying for them or not? But the devil in them does not want to come out, so he will convince them that you are hurting them or that you are causing them pain, when it is really that spirit in them. Majority of the people that are scared of prayer are reprobates and are bound.
Some people wont believe in prayer because they have had things to happen in their life where they are scared and they have been emotional burnt. But you can't let the foolish and vain sayings of people get you down.
Why do people who don't want prayer get mad because you pray for them? As I said, they are spiritually constipated, they need to be delivered and as long as that spirit is in them telling them that they are alright and the christians are the ones that are crazy, they will continue to be sick, and continue to be bound. Sad to say some people were made to be damned. they were made to go to Hell. How many people you think are actually going to be going to heaven when God arrives? There were only 8 souls saved in Noahs time, how many you think go be saved this time? So don't be weary in well doing? Everyone has the right to their own opinions and everyone has the right to receive or to decline. We all have free choice and because we do there is nothing wrong with them not wanting prayer. That is there choice. But we are christians should never compromise with the world or try to do what makes them happy. Cause in the end they will never be happy you can pray all you want for them. It has to be their decision to be healed and to be whole. That's why Jesus always said Your faith has made you whole. or he asked them Do you believe?
The people that don't want prayer more than likely find it hard to believe in the power of prayer.
You continue praying and uplifting others, God will bless you but don't look at who wants you to pray for them or not. Cause if you do you will get your mind off of Christ and start focusing on what this world wants and what they want don't even matter. Remember no compromise.

I don't believe in prayer, and I'm not offended if someone wants to say a prayer for me or in my presence. The only thing that I would ask of you, however, is not to judge me because I don't pray. Unfortunately, many Christians will judge people who don't pray, so when they pray in front of me, it's almost the same thing as saying I am less of a human being because I don't. The Bible says that Christians should only judge other Christians. If you wish to sincerely pray for me, fine, it's a nice gesture. But if you're doing it to make a point in front of me then I can do without it.

People who get offended by prayer have a weak argument. The first amendment gives us the freedom OF religion not the freedom From religion. Whether or not a person believes in the power of prayer, they can't stop you from praying. Why would anyone be offended by a good gesture, even if they don't believe it helps?

i'm an atheist, yet do not take offense to prayer. I take offense to authorities telling me that I surely might want to desire in a situation. A second of silence can be a similar: "talk to God or close the Hell Up," is what a required second of silence in faculties may be preserving to someone like me.

You go on and pray for anyone you want! It sounds like your heart is in the right place. As long as you're not doing any harm to anyone I don't see a problem. As a non-believer I can acknowledge what I believe to be the futility of prayer, but I can also acknowledge and respect your right to practice your religious beliefs.
Pray away! Be proud! People should feel honored, not insulted, when you offer to pray for them!

I say it might not be the actual person getting offended with prayer but more likely the spiritual conflict within them. Prayer is powerful and can cause manifestation of a stronghold on another person.
So in away, yes, you are effecting someone OR "something".

I can burn a bible for each time you post this question, so you are causing it. Praying for me is persecution. I will pray for you, and I will do it to Satan. If you think praying to god for me will do something, then so will my praying. What will praying for me do? Will it keep me out of hell? I thought I had to acknowledge Jesus to get into the club. If your praying gets me anything, then just say one prayer for every human, and you can be done with it, and all of the good it will do will be done.

I'm not offended by prayer as an atheist... If you want to waste your tI'me praying for things, im all for it.
My gripe with prayer comes when people refuse to seek real treatment for real problems in lieu of prayer. Especially when these problems have the possibility of effecting other people.

As an atheist, I respect peoples beliefs, as long as they are not preached at me, especially forcefully. If you say you will pray for me, over some kind of misfortune perhaps, i will take that as a positive thing, a simple gesture that you wish the best for me, and sympathize with my situation. Any kind of prejudice and hatred, religious or racial or whatever, is mostly ignorance.

People like me get offended because prayer isn't supposed to be used like the lottery...meaning, you just don't get to pray for anything in the world that you want and *poof* your God will grant your wish like a magic genie...that isn't how things work and frankly, I feel that Christians in general, overuse prayer for their own personal gain...and if by coincidence the "prayer" does come true, *Oh...my...god granted my wish*...it's ridiculous...that's why we get offended...
You don't need to pray for my soul...I know where I am going when I die...thanks anyway though...
