Outside of signing the back of the title, thereby transferring ownership, are there any other document that I need to sign or should draft up when selling my car in Chicago?

Hi..I am in IL also. I'd suggest making out an official bill of sale and have both parties sign it; also notarization would help. That way there is documentation of what was paid. The buyer will have to pay sales tax on the vehicle and that way he can show via the notarized bill of sale exactly what was paid. Otherwise, the go to the book and use that value as the basis...

Other than that, basically you sign the title over, and also verify mileage.

Hope this helped

In maximum places the deal is "purchaser pay attention" So if the guy did not get a mechanic to analyze it before he offered it, it truly is his problem. you're not from now on a mechanic or a broking and can't be envisioned to attraction to close a difficulty should be coming with the engine. that they'd ought to tutor you deliberately misled him and knew about a pre-exisitng problem. the burden of info is his. The criminal specialist is a scare tactic, i'd ignore about it. Oh, and now that he has lawyered up on you? do not search for suggestion from from him anymore. No telephone calls, no emails. Say no longer some thing else.
