take as much time as you need to mourn and grieve

I would like to tell you that by the middle of next week you will be over it... but I can't do that. It does get a little easier with time. My first cat died when I was 16. I didn't get over it for a long time. It was 6 months before I could even look at another cat. He was like a member of the family, and I loved him. I still get sad when I do think about him (like now), but it is definitely easier than it was. I can now look back and remember him without shedding a tear.

Everyone is different. Everyone heals at their own pace. Don't rush it. Everyone needs a grieving period.

Take your time. there will always be that connection you had with your CAT. having the two new ones are different relationships, they do not replace your cat that passed, but the similar company helps. I recently went through the loss of my kitten that I had for a whole three months. Without going into detail I took it VERY HARD since he was a Baby afterall. I now have a new kitten and he is just a pleasure. Each cat/kitten are unigue.

I get really attatched to pets, animals, in general. Last year, my cat died, and I was really super upset. I still miss him, but when we got a kitten, it got a little easier. And then, in the past three weeks,m I've been babysitting my freind's hamster. I went to a baseball game last night, and when I got home, the hamster was gone. I started bawling, I miss that hamster so much, and it's not even mine. So you'll always have a special place in your heart for the cat, but you'll be able to love new ones, too!

I think the new cats will definitely be a distraction, but getting over your cat will just take time. It's hard to lose a pet! My heart goes out to you and good luck with the new kitties!

You should take as long as you need. Your feelings wont go away until you deal with them. My friend had a pet RAT who died, and she spent probably 2 weeks mourning him. I think thats the right thing to do, if you need to.

take as long as you need. it took me a week to get over my gerbil and two months for my cat. it's okay to get another cat, but don't think of it as replacing your dead cat.

Take as long as you need to mourn for your dead friend, Devin. The number of new pets you have won't effect how long that takes.

Take your time- and feel better.

Your previous cat will always have his/her special place with you. replacements serve to buffer the loss but they have their own personalities and will endear themselves to you in their own way if you allow it. 2 will just give you more to do and maybe make the loss al little easier to deal with, life goes on, give them a chance to bond with you.
