Hi..
Traditionally, a drink had after dinner... or right before bed... as opposed to capping off a long night of drinking..
>>>>
An act of a sexual nature usually performed after a stellar date, involving the male punching the female in the face and proceeding to defecate in her face just as she regains consciousness..
>>>>>>>>>>
To kiss caps with somebody..
seems to mean:
To drink from the same glass with somebody..
Cap:
Scotland : a shallow wooden bowl often with two handles..

My regards!;)

That last answer was so wrong but anyways nightcap comes from a sports term meaning the last event in a day's competition. When used talking about a drink it means the last drink you have before going to bed. It's usually but not neccessarly an alcoholic beverage.

They call it a nightcap because hopefully that drink caps it off for the night before you go to bed.
