You should still be able to take care of your baby either way. I would think having a c-section you might need some help for a little while, but not too long from what some people have told me. If you have a natural delivery, you will be tired and maybe a little weak for a couple days, but you shouldn't have any problems taking care of your baby. That's why they keep you in the hospital after you deliver, you get help from the nurses and you get a chance to recover, and get your strength back.

Hello!! Let me give you my story. I've had 3 c-sections, and it takes a good 2-3 weeks to recover. You need someone there espcially if you have other children because you cannot pick them up. You can pick up your own baby, and do mild house-work by yourself, but be careful not to do to much. If you have a natural birth, I heard the recovery is less than a week. It's the before part that is hardest.

I had my daughter normal and I ripped from one end to the other and had to have lots of stitches. I was in major pain and it hurt to sit, stand, AND lay down. I was able to take care of my daughter but my mom stayed with me for a week. She basically let me do everything unless I was just in too much pain. My daughter screamed and screamed for a few nights and she just wanted to be rocked and I couldn't do it because it felt like the stitches were rubbing together so my mom would rock her to sleep.
It just depends on the situation. I'm sure that if my mom wasn't here that I would have figured out a way to do it without any help.

Anytime you have surgery there is a certain amount of recovery time. You should follow your doctor's orders about what you can and can not do. I do not see that there should be any problems that would interfere with your caring for your own child, but you may need assistance with lifting your baby, depending on his or her birth weight.
Don't worry , you will be able to bond with and care for your baby.

If you have a c-section, it would be nice if you had some help for the first few days because you will be in alot of pain, but it can be done. If you have other children, however, you will definitely need help because you will not be able to jump up and help them, pick them up, etc.
