If you don't believe in prayer, how can you be upset over something you believe doesn't exist? If you take offense and reject my prayers by saying I'm doing something to you against your will, can you prove I have affected you? If you, as one prev. answer said, paint my barn a hideous color, you have materially affected me. If the object of my prayer is to bring good things to you, why are you mad, especially since I have done nothing to materially affect you? If you burn a Bible in my name, as one prev. answer said, that does not bother me because I had nothing to do with it and you cannot act in my name.

Yep, I don't know how many Atheist I have seen on this board complain about "Bible thumper" praying for them. Not all of them, but a lot. I find this very interesting for the exact reasons you stated. I have seen some non believers get furious over the thought of someone praying for them.
One word explanation.... FEAR.

i do not position self belief in prayer, and that i'm no longer offended if someone needs to assert a prayer for me or in my presence. the only ingredient that i'd ask of you, in spite of the indisputable fact that, isn't to judge me because i do not pray. regrettably, many Christians will choose those who do not pray, so even as they pray in the front of me, it is virtually an similar ingredient as putting forward i'm a lot less of someone because i do not. The Bible says that Christians ought to only choose different Christians. in case you pick to truly pray for me, fantastic, it truly is a astounding gesture. yet once you're doing it to make a element in the front of me then i am going to do with out it.

I am an atheist, but don't take offense to prayer. I take offense to government telling me that I have to pray in a situation.
A moment of silence would be the same: "Speak to God or Shut the Hell Up," is what a required moment of silence in schools would be saying to someone like me.

Yet another Christian that doesn't read their Bible:
"And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by men. Truly, I say to you they have received their reward. But when you pray, go into your room (or closet.) and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret..." (Matthew 6:5-6 RSV)"
You lose...

Are you upset that people take offense or simply because they disagree with you? I can complain about your religious beliefs as much as I want, but that doesn't mean I particularly care whether or not you practice them or pray or whatever. By all means, pray as often as you see fit.

You would not be able to do your prayer it there is not me. So, your prayer, regardless of what religion you are, are given to you by me.
If I deside that I have to be upset, I will be upset not because of you but because I appear as upset to lessen your pain.
Remember my true nature. My mortal body is upset because it can be influenced by others. My eternal nature is never upset and I am giving you life.
Please accept what you have been given and pray to your God. I am not your God but my nature is equal to him and I do not have to worry.

Maybe you miss the point. Maybe it's not the prayer per se but your condescending attitude. Why tell someone who doesn't care that you're praying for them, unless you're trying to impress them or maybe even belittle them?

because people that pray that others believe as they do are very rude and arrogant. If God really wanted me to be christian i whouldnt have met my boss hank lanik who was a christian whose beliefs leaned towards Taoism . If God wanted me to be christian then why did he give me a Pagan husband? If God wanted me to be christian then why do i feel so miserable and uncomfortable around churches. Satan's influence doesnt cut it. its a poor excuse and its a LIE!!!

its because of the selfish intent behind the prayer that they get angry. christians that pray that others see the light of God are rude because they assume the other person is unspiritual or evil.

its because of what you pray for. christians that pray that others become christian are selfish and they are trying to force others to become christian by manipulating God with prayer. its immature and arrogant and the intentions are dirty and not pure. they say the road to hell is paved with good intentions and that constitues as wanting to save your soul.
