"Pentacost" is the Greek term meaning "50th day". The Hebrew equivalent is "Shavuot" meaning "weeks". There was an historical difference of opinions on the interpretation of the commands as to when the "day after the Sabbath" was. The Perushim ("Pharisees") understood the "Sabbath" to be the first day of Passover (the beginning of Nissan 16th), whereas the Tzadikim ("Saducees") believed it was the day after the weekly Sabbath following the first day of Passover. See Lev 23:15.

The support for the Sadducean position is that Lev 23:16 says "on the day after the 7th Sabbath" which would appear to refer to a weekly Sabbath. You will find that most English translations from Jewish sources translate this as "the day after the 7th week", rather than translating "Shabbat" literally.
The support for the modern rabbinic understanding is Joshua 5:11 where they ate the new grain on the day after the 1st day of Passover. Of course, it might be that the first day of Passover fell on Sabbath that year in which case the day after Passover would also be the day after the weekly Shabbat.
Back to Leviticus 23 we find that each person was told to "count for yourself" the Omer. It was a personal effort of each person. Passover was the day Israel was delivered out of Egypt, and they arrived at Mount Sinai at the New Moon about 42 days later. It was there they set up camp and on the 47th G-d commanded Moses to have the people wash and prepare themselves for 3 days, because on Shavuot, G-d Himself would speak directly to the people. On that Shavuot G-d spoke the 10 commandments as we read in Exodus 20. They saw the tongues of fire and each person heard for themselves. See my article on the topic here:

So, Shavuot was the day Torah was given and in Acts 2 it is said to be the day the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) was given. And note the parallels between the two. Also note that the number of people added in Acts 2 was the number lost at the sin of the Golden Calf.

In Exodus 20 they heard the Voices from the mountain, in Acts 20 it came in the Upper Room - the Temple Mount.

The 50th day has nothing to do with the Resurection. That would have been at the close of the weekly Sabbath of Passover week. It would have been the day that the Sadducees counted the first Omer, thus making a tie into the "firstfruits of our resurrection". That means the burial probably occured on Wednesday afternoon.
