Maybe because people that flock to organized religion are in need of medical help. Perhaps the story of a Christian pedophile makes a more newsworthy story to the networks than a non-Christian. Perhaps pedophiles flock to the Church with the hope that God will cure them.

Actually that's not the case. Most child molesters in North America are Christian only because the vast majority of residents list their religion as being Christian. If you were to look at the ratios of molesters per the total numbers in any group, you will find that Christians are either at or below the average overall because the overwhelming majority of Christians are not molesters. It just seems that way because the total numbers are higher than other groups but as a proportion they are lower.
As for priests and pastors, the same is true about proportions but you also have to figure in that media coverage is more intense when the case involves someone in a position of trust. Have you ever wondered why when there are some sexual assault cases that you never really hear much about the perpetrator except a name? That's because unless that person is also a pastor or a coach, it's not newsworthy. If you look at the actual statistics, the reality is much different from your stated perception.
I suggest you try getting your hands on comprehensive government stats to see this for yourself. Maybe see if there is a report done explaining it as well.

Statisticly there are more Christians in the US than any other faith. So there's more of a chance of your pedophile being a Christian.
There is also a psychological term that states that the human mind assumes that the things they hear about but don't see are common. Such as your aforementioned Priestly Pedophiles. In reality there aren't so many of them as your mind lets you think.
But if you were looking for a Cynnical point of view then here it is.
The Priests are taking advantage of the confidentiality that comes with the confession and expect that the child will not tell what went on inside.

They're not -- it's just that the mainstream liberal media's Public Enemy Number One is the Religious Right, so they gleefully jump on any and every opportunity to make Christians look bad. If the media highlighted every child molester to the degree that they highlighted child molesters who were Christians and priests, three news channels devoted to exposing child molesters 24/7 wouldn't be enough. Doesn't make it right for anyone to be a child molester, but those who claim to belong to God and His Son Jesus who are even accused of child molestation get bashed unmercifully.

Since 76.5 percent of the U.S. calls themselves Christian, it follows that offenders have a statistical chance of being from that group. I can guarantee you that 99% of offenders in Saudi Arabia are Muslim for the same reason.
As far as being cleric. That too is deceiving. Most incidents involving average people don't make the press. Incidents involving clerics not only make the press they make the headlines. This all serves to give the impression that clerics are the predominate offenders.

I think that Satan knows exactly how he can tempt each person to get them to fall. If a Christian isn't following Christ, praying, reading His Bible, and confessing sin, then he is open to Satan's attacks. A person can get so far away from God that he forgets he's even saved.
As far as priests go, I think they are tempted in a different way because they are not allowed to marry.

NOT most, it is just that the media focuses more on them, because they are to be held at a higher standard. If you watched "Dateline" you saw that child preditors come in all degrees. But, becareful, many kids use this to cause trouble for a person, without any true basis.

Alot of priests in the 30's onwards were forced into the vocation because at that time it was common for at least one member of the family to go into it. Either priesthood or convent. Regardless of their personal choice.

Because pastors and priests are suppose to be the head of their "flocks" and lead and love them all. It's the power that can hide the darker truth, and for people like that, it hides it well.

I think some people in America just like to call themselves Christians because they think it makes them sound "good" and makes them feel like they are a fine person.
I doubt the "Christians" who molest children truly walk in the footsteps of Christ, and certainly don't represent the religion as a whole.
Christians are like any group of people; some winners, some losers.
