I'm talking like 20 times a day or more (no exaggerations) His doctor says not to worry cause he keeps gaining weight. He's 18 lbs. and almost 30 inches long. The Dr. said it might be acid reflux and put him on Zantac (1/2 mL twice a day) and its not helped at all. He only did that 2 months ago after I suggested it. He still says there's nothing to worry about but I'm not so sure. It doesn't really matter what he eats either. Formula (we had him on Enfamil AR), baby food, cereal, table food (hes only had mashed potatoes and peas so far), juice, whole milk, water...anything that he eats or drinks comes right back up. Sometimes he'll go 2-3 hours after he's eaten and not spit up but when he does its the food. His doctor told me that he shouldnt be throwing up food that long after he'd eaten because it should all be digested yet he refuses to do any tests or try anything else. Anyone else with similar problems? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

His doctor suggested the whole milk, and thats only been in the past month, and we've tried almost every formula that there is. It doesn't really matter what he eats or does or anything else...Anything and everything that goes into his stomach usually comes right back out.

He can get up first thing in the morning and for example drink 4 ounces of juice or formula and not eat or drink anything else and spit the majority of it up. At 8 months old he should be able to eat a 4 ounce jar of baby food....

My daughter was a spitter. I was also concerned but basically it boiled down to her being a little piggy :) She always drank/ate way too much for her little tummy to hold and it would always come back up (she would digest what she could and the rest would come back up, sometimes 10 min later, sometimes an hour later). Some baby's are spitters and they will eventually grow out of it. We had a burp cloth with us a constant bases and we got to the point where if we heard a burp or a spit up sound we automatically had the cloth to her face. She grew out of it right before she was 1. She was also like your baby, gaining weight and very healthy.
I know its so hard not to be concerned but if your doctor isn't worried I would take that as a good sign, especially since your baby is gaining weight and is healthy. If the Zantac hasn't helped then obviously reflux is not the issue. I would stop the Zantac. HTH :)

Mine did the same thing. He was tested for pyloric stenosis( narrowing of intestines where it connects to stomach), and it was normal, the doc tried to put him on something for reflux... no change...we tried all kinds of different formulas(Allimentum Advance was the only one that helped even a little). When he was 9 months old, I decided to try just plain old Similac with iron...no advance(DHA and ARA). That is the ONLY thing that stopped him from puking all the time. We were worried about allergies, and all kinds of other things, but all we had to do was switch to the reg. Similac. People look at me like I'm nuts or something when I tell them that but it's true! DHA, and ARA in formula is made with fungus and other nasty stuff, and I think it hurts some babies rather than helps them. Now my son is 16 months old, and drinks regular milk, and eats everything in sight, and has no problems, and hasn't since we switched!
If your doctor refuses to do anything to help, or find out what is wrong...find another one! It doesn't hurt to tell him how it is, and what you are gong to do. MAKE them listen, it's your childs health. Even though he is gaining weight, I would think vomiting all the time is doing some damage to his esophogus! Good luck.

um maybe he is lactose intolerant and u might wanna choose a differnt formula or type of milk...lacto free stuff or something. I kno my son will throw up if he is moved a lot, like if u walk around holding him after he ate. My boyfriends friends daughter throws up because she is over fed also, might be the problem, that he might be eatin to much for his stomach to handle, i would try to switch to a lacto free milk first before anything else, especially since the zantac isnt working. You might also wanna try to switch doctors, or get another opinion, cus some doctors might not *know* everything

My nephew has acid reflux, he would always throw up right after eating, he has been on Zantac since he was 1 month old. He wouldn't eat baby food and was also lactose intolerant. You child must be getting some food digested or else he wouldn't be gaining weight... but if it concerns you, find a new doctor.

My daughter was the same way. At first the doctor said nothing was wrong. I insisted that this wasn't normal. We had to go to the hospital for her to have an Upper GI to be performed. That was a NIGHTMARE but we learned that she had a gage reflux disorder. She was switched to Nutramagen (spelling? New-tram-a-gen is the way it sounds) formula. And no more pacifiers. She was so much better after that. If your doctor is unwilling to listen to your concerns then I know I would ask for a second opinion. This is your baby and nothing should stop you from making sure that he is healthy.

Your baby definitely has acid reflux.. my four year old had it..
the Zantac isn't working because he is still spitting up/vomiting..
sounds to me like he has a very severe case which may require surgery to fix the valve.
I was told by my pediatrician that they do not want them to spit up at all because the acid that comes up along with the spit up can burn the lining of the esophagus...
they usually recommend thicken feedings and a soy based formula... I really understand how you feel and i wish you luck!! and please look into getting another Dr.

when i was younger I had the same problem. My doctor kept saying don't worry, don't worry. My mom decided to take me to another doctor and here something was wrong, nothing major just something with the food portions and I was allergic to some food in the formula so maybe try different doctors opinions.

I also think you should see another doctor. And when you go make it clear that you're seeking a second opinion about this issue- the doctor will, more than likely, be happy to run tests to get to the bottom of this. Good luck- and I hope your baby gets bettter soon!

I would seek a second opinion on this and go see a different doctor. If you feel that here is something wrong, there might be. Get him to a different Dr.
