I think you should watch the media more often. Hardly ever are other faiths ridiculed. Mostly Islam is because of propaganda etc... What do you expect if their religion is mocked? To sit down and laugh (with the picture of the Prophet?)? If something you believe in is ridiculed (doesnt have to be religion) would you just sit and join in? And if so many lies and stuff is spread about your beliefs? If you were seen as a terrorist just because of who you are or your faith? Because of the actions of a minority, the whole religion gets judged? I don't see the media saying a christian or buddhist etc... done this and that, but when a Muslim does it, it's a reflection on their faith? Is that honestly fair? Whether or not you agree with those actions of the Muslims shown on the news, Islam is the second dominant religion in the world, you can't tell me that about half the world is trying to kill people if they aren't muslims and that they are evil.
by the way chapter 9:11 doesn't say anthing about the son of Arabia waking up the eagle etc... Nowhere in the Koran does it say that.

It's a culture that thinks their faith is too sacred to laugh at. This amazes me because no one can possible know the real truth about God. None of us have been dead to know what's waiting for us - if there is anything at all. We all have the spiritual core within us and do know what is right and wrong, good or not good, but there are those who refuse to believe anyone other than they can *know God*.
It's a certain amount of fear involved in faith, at least among the militants. I've always heard that God and Fear cannot reside in the same house.
Unfortunately there will always be those lacking in a sense of humor in any culture.
Laughter is so good for us. It increases our heart rate, opens our pores, frees all our eternal organs, and pumps adrenlin throughout to give us a more positive outlook.
It's probably a matter of education, like most things. I think the fundamentalist Muslims have been so steeped in their religion from pre-birth to now, that they cannot change or will not consider it.
The younger ones can because they recognize what is real and what is only a *possibility.
Life is short - laugh all you can. Just don't knowingly hurt anyone with it.

That point was evidenced with the furor over "South Park" earlier this year. The show was going to air an episode with an image of Muhammad, but protests and the fear of offending Muslims caused the network to blackout that scene from the show. Instead, at the very end of the same program, images of Jesus and Americans taking a crap on each other were aired.
What is wrong with this picture? I understand why Muslims oppose the use of icons of their great prophet, but why must they get their knickers in bunch when someone else attempts to depict him in a harmless way? And why should Christians have to accept images of a "crapping Christ" on network TV?
If the great figure of the Christian faith can be shown in such a disrespectful way in the name of "free speech" or entertainment, then no religion and no religious leader should be off limits. We are an equal-opportunity offender in our society, no?

Did you ever read the Koran?
It does say a few things there that are interesting
We ( the US ) are the fearsome eagle.
What is our symbol? The Eagle..
Koran 9:11 For it is written that the son of Arabia would awaken the fearsome eagle. The wrath of the eagle would be felt throughout the lands of Allah and lo, while some of the people trembled in despair still more rejoiced; for the wrath of the eagle cleansed the lands of Allah; and there was peace.
And again, Beware the Jew and the Christian for they are brothers. How can they be brothers? The covenants.
The old and the New.
Why would it say that, because Islam is not a brother.

I cannot speak on Buddism with any authority, but the (very) little I know about that religion is that they are singularly uninterested in anyone's opinion of them. It's simply not important to them. Again, this is an outsider's opinion.
As to Christianity, the tenets of that religion include "turn the other cheek", "do unto others as you would have them do unto you.", and so on....toleration, in other words.
The Koran teaches Muslims that their religion, their God and their Prophet may not be mocked. Non-toleration, in other words. Retaliation for slights to Islam is built into the religion.
Do they take it too far? That's a matter for interpretation. I happen to believe that killing people and blowing things up is quite excessive. Apparently some Muslims do not agree.

Wrong. Most insulted faith on Yahoo is Islam. As a muslim have to ignore thousands of insulting remarks and falsehood about Islam without going negative.
These people have nothing better to do in life. They visit hatre promoting websites about Islam and copy and paste the nonsense. There are plenty of anti Christianity websites who are doing the same to spread hatred and it is easy for me to bring that disgusting allegations against Christians but than I will fall to the same low level of hate promoters. Islam also prohibit me of doing so.

It maybe because some religons are more conservative than others. The reasons maybe many but one of reasons I beleive is that if community or people at large are educated, they won't mind having a laugh at some directed at them, even though it may not be true in all cases.
Also the seriousness and intensity with which pratice their religon is important.Islam is generally guided by stricter rules than Christanity or Buddhism and therefore people also feel the same way about their religon as the way they practice them.

All religions are touchy about defending their deeply held misconceptions. It is only the more ignorant of them who take it to extremes. The more ignorant or illiterate a person is, the more fervently religious they are. The same can be said for entire societies.

I agree. However, it is never a good idea to go around mocking someones choice of religion or if they simply do not have any religion. Everyone believes that their religion is the one true religion, but we do not know that as humans. I simply would rather believe in God and Jesus and die to find out that I was wrong than to not believe in anything and die to find out that God was real.
