You know a tree by the fruit it bears. If it bears good fruit keep it, if it bears bad fruit or no fruit chop it down and throw it in the fire. It is the same with people, by their fruits you will know them.

Could these "trees" really be people. The good ones walking the earth and going to heaven and the bad ones being sent into eternal burning? I think so. I am a forester, so I know a lot about trees. Good trees are trees that grow native to the area in which you live, produce fruits beneficial to humans or animals, provide wood for shelter and warmth, etc. Bad trees are exotics that take over the landscape. Usually these trees are landscaping trees purposefully planted by people because they have beautiful flowers or bark, etc.

A family tree grew out of Eden. Pruned by God's hand through the ages. The fruit of that tree is the Resurrection. Christians are grafted onto that tree of seventy generations.
Go to an old tree, for fruit, in it's season...
Don't eat anything blue...

This scripture passage is speaking of your spiritual discernment. The vibes you pick up from another person ... for instance, if someone acts like they love people but there is just something about them that doesn't feel true and sincere ... or they speak prophesy that doesn't line up with the bible, you will know. You'll know by their actions, their attitude and what they speak. And if you KNOW the bible well, you can back them in their corner.
When this gift of discernment is exercised within you, you'll know people by their fruits by just looking at them and they won't have to say a word.

it's just a metaphor, but you knew that already. You know, I used to have a couple of figg trees in my yard as a kid. I love fig newtons, but the figs that came off those trees were not easy to eat. I tried pileing sugar on them, and ate them, but YUCK. I think the filling in fig newtons is something other than real fig. What are your thoughts on this?

Why does Jesus want to chop down trees and put them in a fire?
- he's a jerk.
How do I know what trees are bad?
- it's up to your own perception (just like christians "interpreting" those bible stories according to their own will)

Sermon on the Mount
Jesus is talking about people with calculated false motives, about folks with an approach to Christianity that is obviously one-sided and shallow, focused more on wowing people for the moment more than sustaining sturdy faith for the long haul. There's an awfully big difference between someone who struggles with lust and a David Koresh who uses the spectacular to lead people to their dooms!

it could look from the instructions of Christ and the bible, that we are to do sturdy , do whats suitable and cope with our buddies nicely, and help them in the event that they want help. additionally we could desire to continuously be variety, and function discipline, somewhat over our passions which includes anger , whilst somebody is grouchy or recommend lively, we are to no longer be likewise to them. we are to be even tempered, no longer instruct our anger or how plenty we dislike somebody, yet be superb to all. endurance is a worth fruit to benefit. the only thank you to get some, is to be placed to the attempt to function it tried daily, and sooner or later, we are able to be sure that we are affected person, mutually as others could be throwing a in superb condition, or yelling hurry up at somebody, we wait quietly and splendor what the heck is incorrect with them? They lack self administration and endurance that's what. Jesus continuously did what replace into suitable, even whilst others concept he replace right into a failure, or accused him of no longer being God because of the fact he did no longer come down off that pass. Doing the main appropriate element isn't continuously person-friendly, and in specific situations takes heroic distinctive function, yet whilst we persist in doing nicely, on the top, we are able to genuinely resemble our loving savior and be called into the dominion of God.
