Any good relationship should be built on trust and boundaries. There should be no reason to check eachother's email.

Depending on how long you have know the person and if you are really together or not, but still even if the two people that are married or have been together for so long it is NOT right for the other lover to have the other person's email ,cause that is there space there domain to communicate with there close friends and what not, but if you are in a relationship then you should trust one another that the other person is not doing anything that would hurt the other person.
That means if you give the other lover your email and password and he or she asks for it that means there is not trust in the relationship and that there is not good.

Hey.. I think if two people are close to each other than trusting each other is vital. If having passwords of each other is a show of trust.. then by not replying to each others emails or snooping around in their inbox is respecting that trust.

No way! If you want an email that each other can check than get another email account that you both can share. But for your private account it needs to remain just that...private.

No, I thought everybody should have their privacy. It is a very sensitive to do, what if you accidently see your partner office documents or info that could be sensitive. So if your partner don't trust you, I dun think you should be together. Ultimately it is up to individual to decide whether to tell their partners on their own emails.

It is NEVER a good idea to exchange e-mail passwords with ANYONE. Even in a close relationship, some things need to remain private!!!

No, I don't think you should do that. You would not give him info to take money out of your checking or savings account. I would not even give my husband my password. Some things are private.
