I keep seeing this claim made on Y!A. Please explain to me why you think I don't exist. Is it that you think everyone actually believes in god? Is it that you are simply playing a game along the lines of "you say god doesn't exist when it's obvious to me he does, and so I say you don't exist when it's obvious to you you do"? Or is it something else?

Vij, all you've done is reassert the same thing with no explanation. Give me a reason not to question your sanity.

For all the "atheism is a religion" guys, fine, it's a religion. Doesn't that mean atheists exist then, otherwise there could be no such religion?

That's right ~Shiela~, most atheists also do not believe in the devil, angels, heaven/hell, Santa, leprechauns, etc.

Theists just can't comprehend that there are people in the world who don't believe in what they do. They justify their crackpot beliefs by reassuring themselves with the idea that all atheists, non-religious people actually are theists but that we are either confused or lying. Sadly for them, they are dead wrong about a great many things.

And since you asked the question please don't judge me by what I am saying or cause me to get a violation.
I am a Christian and I have not said that Atheists do not exist. It is obvious that you do exist. But I also know that you can't believe in the devil if you do not believe that God exists. Is this correct or not? I just wish that prayer can be put back into the schools so our kids can learn more about God's existence as well as the Devil's.

You exist but many of us don't think there is any such thing as a true atheist. You will always wonder in the back of your mind if God really does exist and when the ground shakes you will look up. The thing is, if I'm wrong I've lost nothing. If you're wrong you will have lost everything and made an eternal mistake. And, I'm not wrong.

I agree that Atheists do indeed exist. I however also think that perhaps some of them were religious at one point and became either disapointed in their religions and therefore felt it best if they just did not believe anymore. I has happened. Or it could be that something happened and you questioned why something happened and could of thought "why did God allow this to happen to me or my loved one?" If that is the case, then I just hope whoever decides to not believe will one day rethink their decision and become a believer again.
I do not think everyone believes in God, I do and I know that is what counts. It sure would be nice if more people did.

it's the fact that atheism was not based solely on the belief in a higher diety of worship. It originally describes the morale and social standard of a person. It actually has very little to do with God. It just became widespread that one who does not believe in God is atheist. There is not one person I have ever met in my life that can claim true atheism, serial killers maybe....child molestors, or perhaps just people who are ok with that behavior, actual atheists have no conscience or feel they do not need to be "held down" by the laws and morals of men. God plays a very small part in "atheism" you can do research and discover that you are not in fact one. You just simply don't believe in God.There's more to it than a religion or the lack thereof. Hope this helps.

They don't see how anyone can not agree with them, because for the last several hundred years everyone who spoke out against them was tortured to death. I know there is no god, and never gave it a second thought. Same as saying there are no Christians because they always wonder if god may not exist. But in fact there are no true Christians, because they do not follow the bible. They say it is not to be taken literally. Like when Jesus tells you not to kill, he is using general terms, like saying try not to kill all of the time. Truth is, one christian said this, so the rest joined in, and now none of them know what they are saying, so you get many explanations. Like Christianity, the sayings are bandwagon.

Most atheists make themselves the measure of what is right and wrong ... hence, they make themselves their own god. In other words, an atheist's religion is humanism ... man is the measure of all things.
So I think what you've heard is not necessarily that atheists don't exist ... but that there are no true atheists, because everyone believes in a god of some sort, even if that god is man.

I love how the first response to this question was from an individual who likely doesn't know a single atheist, but who believes he/she knows everything about ALL atheists.
Amusing how people who have never met me (and likely will never meet me) claim to know such intimate details about me.

Well, obviously athiests do exist. Athiests believe in nothing except apparently a big bang from nowhere, that accidently created a universe. So yes, athiests do exist. Not very logical, but they exist regardless.

Why do christians think Atheists don't exist?
Because the christians are so full of them selves. If you don't understand what that means. Drop me a note.
I think, therefore I am.
