It's very refreshing seeing someone want to serve their country instead of bashing it. Congrats to you!!
As for which branch you go into, you have to talk to recruiters and see what's available in each one. It's all going to depend on what you choose as a MOS (job) and how often you like being gone and so on. No matter what anyone says here, the decision will really come from you. You're going to want a marketable career when you get out and you'll want to be able to make full use of your benefits. Please check into each branch carefully and talk to the "experts"....the recruiters.

WHOOORA... I am a veteran and grew up as an Army brat. I served in the United States Air Force as a Mental Health Tech and discharged with honors.
I personally don't thing women belong in the Army or Marine Corp. because most of the jobs in the Army are Infantry and forget about the Marine Corp. My ex-husband was in the Navy but was stationed on Camp Leguene which is a Marine Base in Jacksonville, NC and I have seen too many young men mentally lost...brain-washed...just a killing machine. The Air Force has real jobs that you can take into the civilian sector once discharged. Most folks in the Army and Marines could never get into the Air Force or Navy because they will recruit anyone who’s willing to train where as the Air Force and Navy focus more on the recruits academic scores and background clearance. You don't want your Bunkie to be Retarded and a serial killer...LMAO
It goes...Air Force, Navy, Army then Marine Corp. You have better quarters and training in the Air Force and Navy. They actually care about their recruits. Don't get me wrong...you will run into some A$$ Holes no matter where you go but they are the better branches.
Have you ever noticed all the Army and Marine commercials and see very few Air Force commercials? That is because they waste their money on advertisements and the Air force takes that money and uses it for better facilities, living quarters, materials, training etc. They don’t have to sell a dream in advertisements because the proof is in the pudding and not on a TV screen or an AD board.
Good Luck with what every decision you make. No matter what you decide you definitely have courage and a lot of guts to want to join in the middle of a war. Most can't say they could do it. WHOOORA and GOOD LUCK AGAIN….

Neither -- AIR FORCE. Take it from someone who has spent 16 years wearing an Air Force uniform: No one comes close. If you're a college graduate, talk to a recruiter about applying for a commission to become an officer.
Here are some reasons why you don't want to join the other branches of the service: ARMY -- VERY good chance you'll end up in Iraq or Afghanistan for a year to 16 months at a time, and even if you don't you'll spend a lot of time in the field camping in tents doing G.I. Joe exercises, NAVY -- You'll spend months at a time on a ship in very cramped conditions, MARINE CORPS -- VERY physically demanding, also a very good chance you'll end up in Iraq or Afghanistan for a year to 16 months at a time.
Now, here are the reasons why you should join the Air Force: (1) Shortest basic training and officer training school, (2) Best living conditions of all the branches of the service BY FAR -- it's the only branch of the service where you are guaranteed to get your own room in the barracks or you'll get a housing allowance that will allow you to get a decent/nice place off-base, (3) Most job opportunities that translate into good-paying jobs in the civilian sector, (4) Most jobs that resemble "bankers' hours," giving you an opportunity to have a life outside of work, (5) If you do end up in Iraq or Afghanistan, you won't be there for any more than 179 days, probably more like 120 days, (6) Best treatment of women by male peers of all the branches of the service BY FAR -- yes, we've had our problems like the Air Force Academy, but the rate per thousand of sexual assault in the Air Force is over 400% lower than the branch of the service that has the second-best rate (the Marine Corps).
Aim high -- you'll be glad you did.

We don't have time for this! There is a war on! Soon the alliances will be made, the petty disputes settled, and all the countries in the world wil immediately start hewing at whatever country pisses them off the most with a finely sharpened axe. Planes and missiles full of Speed and Violence will be criss-crossing the Mother Earth, who in turn will weep at what her Children are doing. Pain and Anguish is the name of the game now, dear sir, and the person with the biggest friends to stand in front of him will be the one on top in the end. Fear and Monstrosity will win the 2008 election, just barely edging out Weakness and Pacfism. The world has slowly been going insane, so slowly that we haven't been noticing it. It is undeniable now. Every public figure is a mad, jabbering, lunatic. Settle in for a long haul. The last place you would ever want to be is in the armed forces at a time like this. Into the valley of death rode the 600. Mahalo.

It's all in your personal preferance & how you'd want to spend the next so many odd years of your life. It depends on what role you want, do you want to be up front with the action or back behind the scenes but still important. Personally I'd go Navy mostly becuase I've come to really love that branch & I'm all about sailing, etc (and the technology is pretty impressive!) but you might be the total opposite of me. Go where you thin you'll fit in (And hopefully it'll be the Navy! Sorry, couldn't help it!)

My best friend is in the army and by brother in law was in the navy. My best friend hates it he feels trapped even though the enlistment time is shorter. And my brother in law hated it so much that he is no longer in. The enlistment time in the navy is longer and you have a greater chance of being stationed over seas but less chance of seeing land fall during war time. I say just don't join up. But well I don't like taking orders... from anyone.
My prayers are with you no matter what choice you make.

What a honor to have someone so intelligent and bright talking about wanting to "serve her country". I am impressed and tearful that you took the time to post here.
My husband did eight years of service and is a US Marine. He says he will be that till he dies. :-) My Uncles, father, grandfather served in the Army. One was a Commander in the Korean War and was a POW for over 2 years. He had a business degree when he enlisted so he got higher ranking on his enlistment. They all report the Army is excellent .
I have two best friends who were in the Navy. They loved it!
I would look at what incentives they are offering and pick the best!
Thank you for serving our country :-))
