You are correct my friend. I am a christian and if I confess to follow Christ I am to love my neighbour as myself, whether they be of the same religious persuasion or none at all. Jesus loved us and died for us while we were yet sinners, He did'nt wait for us to clean up our acts. Jesus said if we love one another, the world would know that we belong to Him.

I agree with you about the Christians getting nasty...I don't agree that they would necessairly have to "love" me or anyone else sharing differing beliefs. What I do think is that they should at least show some respect for a differing point of view. Additionally, do you suppose they may/might be realizing that they could be wrong and just defending their beliefs? I've also seen some Atheists being disrespectful in here also. Really all sides should make an effort to be RESPECTFUL and keep the dialogue genuine. PEACE!

We as Christians should love everyone but it is hard to love people who are dead set on hurting others and attacking there beliefs. Who are you to judge? Your questions and answers have shown your lack of morals for Christians and other religions in this section. Your motives are not pure and your sects have taken it to the extremes. I am not justifying anyone actions but you must look in the mirror at your self and ask what have you done to make it better on this section as a person? When you point the finger at others you need to look at how many what pointing back at you! You have been suspended several times this should be a wake up call for you and others.
Shalom

Too bad Atheists don't follow any kind of book!
I wish I could quote something like that to them every once in a while and admonish them to be kind to others!
It's not really fair, is it??
You get to be nasty and mean, you get to ridicule us and write any hateful thing you want about us without anybody even lifting an eyebrow, but if we Christians ever write anything nasty to anybody, guess what happens?
Exactly.
BTW, if you think I have been unkind to you in the past, let me just tell you that this is nothing, compared to the kind of nastiness you'd be getting from me if I wasn't saved!!! Just thank God you don't have to deal with the "old" me! ;)

Yes, you're right. It only proves that Christians are imperfect and still have the sinful nature in them to want to bicker and backbite in defense.
There is no one on this planet who could be perfect like Jesus no matter how much of a follower they are.
Even the ones who do have compassion and care for people still get annoyed with other people inside their hearts.
But I totally agree with you ..... if I have shown disrespect or hate to anyone, you have every right to admonish me. I hang my head in shame but am grateful for the reminder.

I have found that the nastiness is on all sides. I have found that some people will post a "miracle" story just to see if all the Christians fall for it. I have seen alot of Atheist quote a Bible they don't even believe. You have to consider that just because someone claims to be a Christian doesn't mean they are. And most of all, nobody is perfect.

I am a Christian and I judge people on the content of their character and their words and actions, not by their religion or lack of religion. Most of the thousands of Christians I know do the same. In America, at least, atheists have never been oppressed so why would you even ask such a question?

Yes, I am concerned with the ways some Christians answer people's questions. Some are proud and rude and arrogant, however I am not responsible for them, but they are responsible for God. I do feel it is a shame tho as their witness let's God down.
Look to God for the standard He has set. No human is perfect, but that should not be an excuse for Christians to be rude.
As Christians we should be like Christ, love the sinner, but not the sin. We need to separate the two.
I will say tho, that not all the Christians on yahoo are rude. For those who are, - repent before God and ask His forgiveness!

Shouldn't athiests stop presuming what Christian responses to anything should be if they do not have the experience of being Christian?
If athieism had a central text, I would not dare to quote it, for not having the experience of being athiest, I could rest assured that I would have no idea how to interpret it.

If Jesus was tolerant and respectful of the Samaratan woman at the well, shouldn't all Christians be tolerant of others? Seems to me Christians should be following not only the words of Jesus but also his actions. And NOT the actions of a bigoted few.

It ain't easy being a Christian. I have a lot of trouble with loving my enemies. But I am trying. Most difficult to forgive is Mr. Bush.
