Why do people cross their legs?

And not "because it's comfortable"... really, why do people somewhat instinctively need to cross their legs?

I'm no expert nor do I wish to be regarded as one, but crossing legs would affect circulation and I've noticed the majority of instances (when we cross our legs) is when we're in a relaxed state of being. My theory is this position is causing a person to feel relaxed by cutting circulation at the overtop leg's presure point by the supporting leg beneth. This changes the heart's rythemic beating which in various situations, an example (but lethal alternative) would be smoking, causes the sinsation of being relaxed. This is merely an inconclusive hypothosis with a subject worthy of experimentation. I'll post my analysis in the upcoming weeks along with supportive details.

Personally, most of the times I cross my legs to relax the other one. But I also cross my legs when I am that comfortable about myself and when I think I'd look great and sexy doing it. Sometimes those legs need to be flaunted by crossing them together intently.

For women, I think we are taught at a pretty young age to sit like a lady - crossing your legs is ladylike.

They don't know what else to do with them. No, actually, I think it's a learned behavior. There were (are) parts of the backwoods USA where it would not be a learned behavior. people tend to sprawl.

You know, I was thinking it might be a good form of population control in parts of the world that are starving due to over population. Cheap form of birth control.

For women, it is to hide anything under the skirt if they are wearing one. And not all people do that. And yes, it is comfortable, maybe not for all of the people, but for me, it is.

Well, I think we girls do it because it's costume, my mother always tells me ladies cross their legs, remember before girls only wore skirt, so imagine.
