Sharing ideas is a very resourceful way to enhance the Auxiliary. Synergies develop among members and units that may not have materialized had an idea not been shared. The following are ideas shared by fellow members from which it is hoped you will benefit. If you have an idea to share, please submit the idea by completing the e-form.
Under the CJ Sticker program, stickers are given to children on the rivers who are "caught" wearing their PFDs. Also, stickers are given out at parades such as the 4th of July

We are putting on programs at Elementary schools with CJ the PFD dog at the Kindergarten level. The Flotilla printed coloring books which are handed out to the children. The "Water and Kids" coloring book is no longer in print so we made a new cover and reprinted the remaining contents. Considering applying for a BoatUS Grassroots grant for next year.

Each year we have an "Annual Steak Fry" which is a big fellowship event for the Flotilla. The Flotilla provides the steaks and the members bring "pot luck dishes" to a local park where we have a big picnic. We invite the Elected Division Officers and the Commander MSD-ST Paul, and their wives as well, to this party.

Coastie at the Helm
I recently took my Operating Facility out on a regatta patrol at a last minute request from MSD-STP to provide a platform for one the the CG officers. During the outing I offered for the officer to take the helm on the return trip to the dock. I was surprised to find out that no one had ever offered to let the person take the helm when out with the Auxiliary. The officer seemed to love it and had a good time.

Blogs are online diaries. Keep in mind just about anybody can read them, even people wish you not too. This has caused many people to be fired and at least lose friends. Be careful what you put on the internet.
Start off with a free blog such as at blogger.com, keep in mind most people only update theirs for 12-16 months after that they stop.
If you want to really spread your ideas, become a writer. It is more lasting and means more to people than some blog by a nobody that can not even bother to update weekly.
