The official language of Islamic Republic of Pakistan is English, whereas the national language is Urdu.

English has been an official language for the entire region of Indian subcontinent since the days of English Raaj. Before that the Official language in the courts of Mughal Emperors was Persian.

There are many regional languages and local dialects for each of the provinces of Pakistan but Urdu is spoken all over the country.

The official language is Urdu but English is widely used, especially in government because it is a dictatorship controlled by the US/UK.

Urdu, as it is spoken, is a mixture of different languages and almost the same an Hindi (Hindi has eliminated some of the arabic origins/words for sanscript). Any Urdu speaker will be able to understand Hindi and vice versa.

Urdu as it is written has a modified form of the arabic letters (without vowel pointing) and the numbers are also written in a modified form of the arabic decimal system (England/Europe/US etc also used a modified arabic decimal system after a student who studied in a north african islamic university became a Pope when he returned to Italy about 10th century).

The orignal idea of "Pakistan" was was proposed by Chaudhry Rahmat Ali in 1933 as a confederation of states (Punjab - except for a country in the middle for the Sikhs, Afghania, Kashmir, Iran, Sind...), where there was a muslim majority after the British eventually left. "India" only existed as a unified entity under the British occupation. When the British left, the different potential "states" in this confederation were divided as the last vindictive act of a dying empire, leaving the current mixture.

For this reason, you will find different languages and cultures. There five other major ones including Suraiki, Punjabi (similar to Urdu), Pashtun (in the north west and the same language as Afghanistan),sindi and balauch.

During the British occupation of india, a survey was done showing about 800 languages in the subcontinent.

Urdu is the official language of Pakistan.

Pakistan was a part of India before 1947 so Hindi is also much more spoken language there.

Some pockets of Pakistan speak Punjabi and Sindhi also.

After all it takes courage and a very long time to forget your past and ancestory culture.

Visiting Pakistan will gives you the whole Idea that How India was looks like 50 years ago.

ok first of all, Arabic is NOT spoken there. its not a middle eastern country
Hindi is not spoken either. pakistan and india are enemies and even though Hindi is basically Urdu, it's not spoken
In areas like Karachi, Urdu is spoken. In areas like Lahore, Punjabi is spoken
In sindh, Sindhi is spoken. and in Kashmir, Pashto is spoken
but the official language is Urdu and it's spoken mostly throughout the nation
but the high class, elite people speak English. English is a symbol of education there.
