Concerned? No. There were plenty of witnesses. Many people heard what He said.

People back then lived in a world without electronic recording devices. As such, they were quite used to listening to what people said and then writing them down.

In those days, Jews typically could recite all the Psalms, as well as most (if not all) of Scripture.

Their minds probably worked differently than ours, because they didn't have TV, radio, or recording technology -- so they were probably very accustomed to hearing what people said and then writing the words down much later with a high degree of accuracy.

The reason that there are so many different sects of Christianity is because there were hundreds of his followers present at his crucifixion. They each had their own story to tell. And with each story was a unique interpretation of what Jesus was really trying to teach. Each story is 2000 years old, and each time it's told, some detail is changed.
The point is, very few of the stories you hear in this day is anywhere near the truth of what really happened.

The government official was there.

Remember, the Roman's governor washed his hand and declare nothing to do with this person (Jesus) death. Thus there will be a record.

In the Roman History, there is also a parallel description with the Gospel, but minus the spiritual side. That is the proof.

Jesus actually said different things on the cross, depending on which gospel you read. Just make a simple comparison and you'll see.

For example,

In Matthew 27:46 Jesus feels abandoned and victimised
46About the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?"—which means, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"

In Luke 23:46 he is resigned and happy to die.
46Jesus called out with a loud voice, "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit." When he had said this, he breathed his last.

There were Roman soldiers there. They could have easily passed on what they heard to someone else who transcribed it later. If that's your best shot at the Bible, there's about 2000 other pages that you might want to pay attention to.

You need to think twice before you put things up. Of course people were there at the cross. It is one of the most well documented last moments of someones life in history! You had his mother, John, the women, the soldiers, the criminals...

the folks are right about many people being there to witness what he said on the cross. as far as it being recorded accurately.... these folks lived in a time when few people could write, and it was a vital part of their existence to be "auditory learners" and pass down accurate information by word-of-mouth until it could be written down. you can read a lot more about this and other questions in The Case for Christ by Lee Strobel.... he was an atheist journalist who set out to prove that the Bible was untrustworthy, but in the process of his research, he was convinced that the Bible was true, and became a Christian himself. good luck in your search for information!

Assuming the New Testament accounts regarding the life of Jesus Christ are somewhat valid (miracles notwithstanding), many of the quotes attributed to him are probably paraphrases.

I'd be more concerned with the content of all of this as i don't think someone who'd been tortured and then nailed to a tree would be coherent or make too much sense.

Are you sure there was no one.. I can see you don't know what you are reading, because there were soldiers, his mother, Mary Magdalen, John one of His disciples, and others that were mocking him. Read the bible again, cause I think you must have missed something.
