It seems that this particular religion separates it's member based on social status and not belief. I could be a christian and walk into a catholic church, no problem, but can i walk into the celebrity church of scientology?

It's like any other religion. They do depend on donations, but I imagine no more so than any of the big spenders that blow money on the big evangelist parks.
