If your dog is friendly with other dogs, you could make the babysitting and walking like play dates for your dog. Take him with you and let him enjoy the company of the other dogs also. (if the other dogs and owners don't mind.)
Finally after everyone has left, come up with a special ritual for just you and your dog, something your dog loves to do and will gain you and him a little extra alone time. Now your dog will look forward to your extra work, and will really enjoy the time you and him get to spend alone.

As long as it doesn't interfere with time spent with your dog, he won't mind you making another dogs day abit brighter. I was a Manager in a pet store and spent 12 hours a day playing with and walking other dogs (we adopted out dogs for the SPCA). My dogs were happy to see me when I came home each day, they were anxious to smell who I've met up with in my 'travels'. Is your dog friendly with other dogs? Are the dogs you're going to be walking friendly with others? Can you handle walking more than one dog at a time? Try bringing your dog with you when you walk the neighbors dogs - he'll love the extra exercise and being able to socialize with other dogs.

just make sure your lab gets extra special cuddle and walk time with you.
you are his pack member, your absence will be missed. taking time for you and him to play and walk together will help him deal with a new schedule.
