Does anyone really truly know? I think he was just growing up doing what jewish kids did. I read something that was supposedly copied documents from the sanhedrin who were investigating the happenings about Jesus' time. The documents from Gamaliel basically stated that Jesus was very elusive, but he did interview others involved in his life.
Pretty interesting, but it's one of those things that haven't been proven/disproven as fact. The book is called "The Archko Volume"

Jesus went to Kashmir up in the Himalayas Mountains in India. He went there to get his teachings from the Rishis and Gurus. He later came down to the people of the lower regions to enlighten them, however, they knew already because of the very same Rishis teachings, so He eventually ventured out back into the outer world where His teachings would be new and enlightening to those. He was not born fully knowledgeable but it came to Him easy being that of a Divine nature.
